A Strive For A Better Commonwealth

Before posting please read through as I took a lot of time in doing this. If you are trolling you will be ignored. This is strictly and Idea and maybe a future action contributed by multiple users.

I took a lot of time in typing this. So please show respect under this topic. I do not want profanity or fights under this topic either.
If you want more reason in why I wrote this or maybe more of a reason please visit this topic: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=28958

Everyday a hearthling dies. Every day crimes are committed. Villages are fighting villages, brothers and sisters versus brothers and sisters. We fight over object inside a game that we cannot obtain or are too lazy to obtain for ourselves. We steal and take out of greed and without much thought for the other person or persons. Why? The game is set up to allow this and we do it. This is wrong, no one ever gives a second thought how the other person feels. Even if they do, they do it because it "fun". Now let me ask, have you been killed or murdered? I have plenty of times. It is honestly a depressing having to start over and over again. And most people have experienced that. So why do we cause it if we don't like it ourselves? We do it out of greed and the feeling of power but have you ever thought of a better community in which people shared their wealth instead of having to steal it? Risking your own scents and ruining other gamers lives? This is what this topic is addressing. First I will go over why villages and sanctuaries never work.

These Sanctuaries never last and there are reasons why. People are corrupt and as said in other forum posts it only takes "One Bad Apple To Ruin The Bunch". This is true, takes just one. Greed and want for power eventually take over and ruin these sanctuaries and turning them into war zones. People may be looking for peace but there will always be a person that wants to kill or have something he does not. The LS position is not that serious. They have no power other then the actual "ownership" which is pretty much a piece of paper that can be easily taken away, thus the LS has no Real Power. He just has expectation of power. So he can rule as long as he maintains power but how long will it last till someone starts thinking for themselves?

Now you may be asking why don't we make a faction or force to clear these killers and people. That just wont work that's why. You can send countless individuals and groups off on these crusades but they will never get anywhere. They are trying to fight fire with fire and violence with violence. It never solves anything but feeds furnace that burns the countless logs inside. Just causes more chaos and then themselves start raiding and killing and then you have to kill them and it cycles around itself. So why bother trying to attempt it? Mostly because these people never thought it through nor realize that they are turning into what they wanted to stop in the first place.

So you might be now saying that my idea is probably very stupid and will never happen and probably start trolling me and saying I am crazy. But that isn't what I came to talk about. I know entire peace is impossible because those skills are still there that restrict it and there will always be that "One Bad Apple". So I am addressing a new idea. No it isn't a new era movement or some crazy crusade as I myself like living where I live now. My idea is to propose a series of support acts in which the common community can follow making Hearth and Haven safe for player to player relationships and possibly building a better community. How will this be accomplished though? I thought for a long time over this and came up with this idea, a four section plan each addressing the troubles and aspects of each problem areas in Haven and Hearth, each having ten or more points covering the topic.

]_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Step 1, Building a community:

Here we are not building an actual city or village or even having to see each other. The goal of this plan is just to make Haven and Hearth a better place to live. Basically forming a loose united peoples. Here are the aspects of this plan:
1. Do not write profane things or "draw" them.
2. Respect the dead, give them a proper headstone with formality, they were once people too as they should do for you if the same fate befall you.
3. If you see profane or ugly things written or drawn take time to remove it, not only does it make your community and area look nice but it makes most people feel better.
4. If you see someone formally greet them and be kind and show hospitality by greeting or even giving them a friendly gift of a curious or object that you may not need.
5. Do not kill someone without reason. If someone has stolen from you it is a legitimate reason but maybe sow kindness and just give them a warning as it may pay off and maybe form a relationship instead of destroying it.
6. Do not pants people it just disrespectful.
7. If a noob is around offer to show him the game and give him respect as he is just learning. Show him what he needs and give him web resources to aid him in his adventure.
8. Do not ever seek revenge as it only causes more vengeance and problems.
9. If you see something wrong being committed take time to find out the situation and possibly correct it without violent force.
10. Basically show respect and do good for your community and form relations, don't break them.

_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Step 2, Code of Honor:

This section covers player to player fighting. If you are going to fight as I know it will happen do it with Honor. This code is meant to set a few guidelines in keeping a fight respectable and honorable.
1. If you say you are going fight go through with it. Do not run from what you caused.
2. Only fight a person if they agree to fight and do not kill at random.
3. If you set rules before the fight, follow the rules, like if you said do not kill or steal items then do not kill and steal items after winning.
4. Take your victory into consideration and do not brag off about it. People will come and beat the victor. Also it makes the loser feel worse off so be a victor as if you were the loser.
5. Do not fight over something completely not worth it. Fighting over smack talk is just a waste of time.
6. During and after battle show respect to your enemy as they should do to you. As you may lose or win and in the end, the better wins and smack talking just makes it worse.
7. When picking fights, ask respectfully.
8. Do not cheat, if you say One Versus One keep it One Versus One.
9. If you pick a fight do not call other people into it as they will fight who they want and will just end up causing trouble.
10. Basically be an honorable fighter. Show respect as if the enemy was you yourself and how you want to be treated.

_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Step 3, Village Fueds:

This section is basics of village warring as there is always issues with this and some guidelines could help a lot.
1. If you are going to fight, make sure the other village knows and possibly also make it so you both agree to fight.
2. Fight a village that is equal to your village. Do not fight smaller villages and do not fight peaceful villages.
3. Only raid villages that you are at war with.
4. If you kill, kill everyone only once and leave, do not spam kill.
5. Let the people of the village claim their dead, as they have died and you are victor, it just respectable.
6. Set guidelines before you war, it makes it less of a mess and less of a political problem.
7. If you conquer or fully defeat a village, leave a rune stone saying that you were the conquerors via this format: "We the (insert village name here) have conquered this village." This is to prevent confusion and let the people know what happened and keeps the "What happened to this village?" threads off the forums.
8. If you fight make you follow the other two sections by being respectable as if the enemy was you.
9. Do not cheat on times, if you let the village collect their dead, let them collect their dead the entire day or two.
10. If you raid, just take don't destroy more then you have to. As if you were raided you would want the same.
11. Keep the fight important. Do not fight over little politics and gossip.
12. Show and give them respect as if it were you, do not harass a village. If you beat them once then you have beaten them. Only attack them till they surrender and in this case the losing village must agree not to attack the victor and agree to the term set by the victor THAT IS REASONABLE.

_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Step 4, Trading:

I am not going to put a list here. Basically if you trade, trade what you promise. Do not kill people trading, as they only want to do business and would be best if traders didn't have to worry or carry the risk of dieing for their job as they are only providing a service. As for the traders themselves, keep to what you promise and do not scam. Even throw in a little extra as it keeps you on good terms with your customers and possibly provide future trades. Also, be safe about trading, use alts and make sure the trade is safe before hand. being extra careful can prevent a lot of trouble. Take plenty of screen shots while trading and if they do you wrong you have proof. The just simply post your event of what happened on the forums respectfully to warn other traders and customers.

_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

How to continue this idea:

This is the end of my four step plan. Feel free to comment as I know no plan is perfect and everything needs revisions. This is only an idea and a moral code that I think people should start living by. It up to you whether or not you agree. But if you do try to spread the word so Haven and Hearth may be a better community. So you may post and comment as you wish. If you support it, put this thread link in your signature, tell your friends, even tell complete Hearthling strangers.

*If you comment on something or want to add something to a section please state the section you are talking about so I know where to add it. Also, commenting on something, please state the section you are talking about.

*Note this is only a moral plan which addresses the problems on Haven and Hearth Honor and Moral problems.

Totally agree. Although...now that I think about it...where's the part where we kill the Jews?

As I thought. People will still fight and this idea still allows that. All you do is ask instead of just act. Killing Jews comment will fall under Section Two.

Nice Idea and I hope it will work....But I do See a couple of problems.

A: I you mentioned. Griefers. These players by their very nature don't give a crap about your hard work. They get there "fun" from this game by killing, looting, and destroying.

B: The simple design of the game. Everything is player driven. Crafting, villages, politics, and trade. Everything. In a survival environment. For me the risk of death is what makes this game exciting. Not may other games can get my heart pounding better than running into someone while raiding their house. Will they attack? Do I run? Will I have a bare knuckle brawl? Yes I raid. If I didn't I might as well play farmville.

-----
I'd like to tell you about the group i run with but i can't. But we do have a code. we don't try to get people to quit. We want to be able raid them again after they rebuild.

I agree fully with you on every aspect of those statements. But griefers are the small portion you cannot control that will still have to live with either way. The basic idea is this is to lower a percentage to make haven and hearth SAFER not "safe" for some players. Some do not want to fight players and get randomly killed. Also the other main aspect is the respect players don't often show to each other that is needed. Yes it fun to raid but do you still disrespect your victims or are you a good sport?

Basically I am just trying to make more of a basis of a reason for killing, raiding, and tormenting instead of just at total random where innocent people get hurt. I have lost a lot to this randomness as well as others and a lot of this profanity and disrespect is not needed.

Our purpose is not to get anyone to quit and often we will tell people how we got in and how they can avoid it in the future. We operate with a very similar code that you suggest.
