Hermitage Raided

Postby knightgabe13 » Tue May 14, 2013 11:03 pm

Well, my hermitage just got raided. I honestly don't know the coordinates, but I'm leaving a few crates with scents in them for any Texas Rangers who happen to find the place.
The raider was wearing a straw hat, leather cloak, and was holding a leather sack. Anything that he didn't take, he dropped on the ground so it would despawn.

Your first problem is that roundpole fence
I suggest replacing it with a brickwall.

Secondly, if you're able to see those scents (and the fact that he took low ql things) most likely the "raider" is a weakling and all it would take is 30-50ua, Rage, and Murder to teach him a lesson.

I agree with this. He's probably somebody who bought theft and tresspassing a few days ago, and needed a place to test it out. If I had any sort of idea as to where you were, I'd probably help.

My main is full nature, and I can't get a pali/BW until I find a clay node. I also don't have enough LP to get rage or murder yet, because I've been putting it all into marksmanship. Thanks for the advice, I'll get a brick wall up ASAP :)

if you don't have the LP for rage/murder, then a brickwall is prolly outta your league at the moment. next best thing(well not really, as everybody has a pallibasher these days) would be a pallisade. also never forget if you do the ranging and find the thief's hearthfire, if you attack him and whatnot, your gona leave scents too. and having murder/battery scents out there when you only have a roundpole or even a pallisade up usually spells trouble.

Making a brickwall is more of a lot of effort and a bit of luck rather than LP based.

The thing you need for a brickwall is:

  • A LOT of clay for the walls
  • Wrought for cornerstones
  • Steel for the gate. You will need steel either way and I will explain why in the following.

Wrought is relatively simple to obtain though steel requires you to probably set in alarm on your phone or computer to warn you when to fuel the crucible. If you have problems with keeping the crucible lit, your other option is to trade with someone for them. I'd suggest Emerald. Clay is probably the bulk of the work and requires a few clay nodes.

The other thing I would highly recommend also building is a village idol. For that, you need

  • Dreams- dreamcatchers
  • Woods and stones
  • 4 deeer antlers and bear teeth from 4 deer and one bear respectively. You'd probably want a sling for this, presuming you cannot fight the bear melee.
  • 30,000 LP. Can be divided between different characters with Yeoman.

The reason why you want a village is so you can create two crossroads (also require steel) outside and inside your home. By bringing a sign from the outer crossroad to your inner one, you create a one way "teleportation" out of your home. To return back inside, merely hearthfire/village port back. The other reason for the village idol is that it removes one way preventing someone from using a village idol to jump over your wall or claim your property.

Until I get a crossroads up, how should I go about key management?

Keep keys on an alt. Log on the alt to open and close the gate, and never let your keys leave the inside of your wall.

From the pictures I can clearly say the only way I see in is through that cliff, so I'm thinking bugjump.
