I think the Q of the behive matters now so if you have a low Q beehive with Q100+ crops it nerfs it. Only a idea from what I have seen with our beehives. Our first one is near Q50 crops but it gives Q15 wax. Our newer higher Q beehives are near our low Q crops and they coming out higher Q.

Yes, thats true. Ql of beehive caps ql of the wax, I have 2 beehives, one ql150+ and one lowql and the lowql one gives me almost 90ql lower wax than the hq one

Beehive Quality has NOTHING to do with the Q of the wax. It depends on the Q of the crops around it, wheat seems to be the biggest contributor.
If some one happens to have the logs of loftars irc post about beehives feel free to post it.

EDIT: Just for a little added words. I have a Q8beehive giving Q95 wax, Q95ish wheat seeds are under the radius, along with Q80beets, and Q60grapes.

Beehives also gradually reduce in quality when you pick the wax.
