But theres no logical reason to have q100 rabbits running around lol, wouldnt it make it pointless to hunt bears etc to get higher q bone/leather/meat

The only quality of rabbits you are going to get is q10, since they have no level and they are not determined by the quality of the soil under them. This is the same reason why most insects you capture in the wild (anthills being the exception) and frogs are all q10.
