Chantrelle Question

Postby geewhizbatman » Tue Dec 06, 2011 8:46 am

Hey,

So, I've been hermitting since about mid world 5 but was content to just nestle away and not interact much. Anyway, I got back into this world recently and am up to my old routine. Means I'm getting my forage on and I've been collecting Chantrelles. Honestly only because the wiki page says they are tradeable in high numbers.

I've almost got a few cabinets full of them and I thought I should ask if the claim of worth is true. They're not particularly stellar quality, as I've not put much into Survival. So, are they worth anything or should I be using that space for something else? Or is it just a quality issue and with higher quality and quantity they become worth something.

Thanks for the info!

Ya, they're pretty decent. You'd be better off harvesting curiosities instead of chants but as long as you can find a buyer then you're all set. There's an infinite demand for food.

if you get your surv up and can get about q25, then people will give you stuff for chest fulls, but they arent terribly expensive, so it would depend what you were after

I was wondering the same thing, i have a cupboard full of them, 30q+, but don't know what they r worth and also not sure how the trade thing works as never done it b4 - i have a village and did ask trade questions b4 but didn't really understand the answer, lol, not cos i'm thick, honestly, just cos didn't understand the jargon or abbrieviations. I started at end of w5 and never got this far then.

I don't interact much with other players as thats how i got killed in w5 lol, so don't have anyone to ask.

Trade normally works as follows:

1) you agree on the trade price.
2) you destroy your hearth fire (requires 25 strength, use a bc and wine if yours is crap)..... (also, make sure its an alt, not your main)
3) you add thier blokey to your kins
4) you enter a party with them
5) they invite you to become part of their village (you accept)
6) Grab your trading stuff all in one go (lift a boat for double storage)
7) Teleport to their village (you can do this over huge distances seeing as you dont have a hearth fire)
8) trade with them.
9) leave their village and get a lawspeaker from your village to invite you back (usually your main)
10) teleport to your home village with all the goods you traded for
11) post a reply on forums saying if they were a good trader etc (its just polite)
12) ???
13) Profit $$$

Generally you contact someone in game or on the forums and arrange the trade. You both need a village idol. Setup a throw-away character called an alt to do the trade. Kin the alt to their lawspeaker and to your lawspeaker then destroy the alt's hearthfire. When outdoors, have the alt enter a party with both lawspeakers. Load the alt with the goods you plan on trading, have the other lawspeaker add it to their village, then have the alt warp to village idol. Conduct the exchange then have the alt leave their village and have your own lawspeaker add the alt back to your village. The final step is to warp the alt back to your village idol and you're done.

To be honest, if you're going to trade forageables, you'd be better off doing blueberries, there's a higher rate of demand for them. I'd probably be interested in trading some for curios if you're looking for a trade partner.

Agreed with Endora.

Back when that chantrelle note was written on the wiki, blueberries had no use.
