I am looking for people new or rather new to the game

Postby andinuad » Thu Dec 29, 2011 10:38 pm

Edit: We've reached the amount of people we sought. So we are full.

--------------
Hi, I am an European player (GMT+1) that has been playing alone for soon two weeks.

What I am looking for is 1-4 people to learn and explore the game together and hopefully later on (when we gather enough materials) form a village together.

So far I've started a small farm with the different crops and I am able to slay boars rather easily.
---------------------------

What I am able to help with:

* Give advice about the game as I know it so far. Making sure you avoid the massive mistakes I did.

* Craft you different "higher quality than new players can craft" tools, for free, to help your early adventure .

* Help you with building your boat, house and other buildings.
-------------------------------

More specific requirements:

* 18+ age (This requirement is set so that we all have a least some life experience)
* Either completely new or max 2 weeks new to the game.
------------------------------

Send me a personal message through the forum message system, if you are interested in joining me.

Perhaps I can help you with your biggest mistake yet:

Yesterday, I tracked scents to a noob; he had his HF in his house, a claim, and some pretty decent stuff inside for a noob. I camped his HF, and eventually, he ported home. I quickly KO'd him as he abruptly logged out. Saddened, as I wasn't able to "teach" him a lesson, I left the house, happy to spare a noob to life for another day; sadly, it was in vain.

Today, I found fresh scents. Going where? Back to that noob. I also had a noob complain to me, who also lived in the area, some of his possessions were gone. I tracked these scents down, and they went back to where I'd been. Death lurked in the shadows; the wind was raw, and the leaves were shaking. The surrondings all knew, you, Andinuad, had to die.

I saw a noob - nettle hat, linen, the usual. However, I didn't want any pestering while I executed your cold, force summoned being, so I decided to KO him and talk to him (Everybody knows a noob is not going to sit down and listen to a scary man with a sword.) about your ways, ask him who you were (which is how I know to write here.), etc.
Incidentally, I killed him. It was a brusque death, as I stabbed my sword through his abdomen, and he curled up in a twitching motion, his soul floating in the depths of eternal despair.. he was dead. Oh, @#&!, that wasn't supposed to happen. He took it fine, he was happy, and I gave him MANY curios (Some of yours. ;)) that should, in total, value over 50K LP. His was a 2k~ LP character, I assume, as it was 2 days old, so I was not too worried, but none the less I was courteous. Good fellow, nice job recruiting.

Well, one thing led to another as we talked, and I decided it was time. The wind went cold once again, and I crushed your bloomed Hearth Fire to bits, sword and shield in hand. I hearthed, and after a short wait, I was home. I went to the idol, right clicked the ground, and clicked "Force Summon". There you were, once again, titled "??? -kos" in deep, blood-red. Here, I presented you with your lesson.

Myself gifting your friends, myself killing you, your friend explaining to me his innocence, et cetera.

tl;dr : Don't steal, kids.
My son, walk not in the way unarmed; because thou knowest not when thy enemy shall come upon thee.

Telling people not to steal but yet at the same time helping thieves/raiders/killers come to my village and kill my villagers.Funny seeing how the guys you were with are stealing our clay and dirt and yet there you are standing next to them. lmfao
One life. How will you live it? Helping your self or helping others?

It is easy to judge if you don't know half the story. Before you visited my house the first time, I didn't even have the skill "theft" and I am not even sure if I had the skill trespassing. So I had certainly not stolen a single thing from anyone: the scent you found is a most likely a trespassing one and did you even bother to analyze why it was there and why? At best it was just me trying to figure how resource nodes work, without doing any harm to anyone or taking anything from anyone. If you claim the first scent was a thieving one you are definetely lying.

After you nearly killed me, looted and destroyed several cupboards (which in no way is justified by the scent you found, that's just a lame excuse and has no moral highground whatsoever), I was clearly upset since I thought a random raider had been wandering around trying to kill random people and loot random things from anyone he can find and that was the first contact with anyone stealing anything I've met in the game.

I mostly thought it was my duty and responsability to now complete the palisade wall as quick as possible to make sure the rest of the people stay protected from random strangers. I felt I was in a hurry and I lost a lot of resources due to you coming to the house and randomly destroying and attempting to kill without any justifiable cause. First of all I went to to two camps I knew were abandoned and this is when I decided that to gamble and get the thieving skill to see if they had anything that can either speed up the process (since they were abandoned I didn't think they would mind).

Then at some point, I just lost my temper and then went around in 2-3 camps (which were on the path from one abandoned to another abandoned camp) who likely were not abandoned and tried to see if there was anything I could use since I previously lost so much. Those thefts from those camps were the only dishonorable things I've done in this game. I did them because I had a moment of moral weakness which happens rarely and usually only if I know someone else who isn't me is in danger (like the people in the town whom I felt responsible for): feeling someone else is in danger is a powerful motivator and it was the one that went me go over the edge those times.

Of course, I didn't think it was right, but at that time (some hours later) when I felt remorse over the situation and over the possibility that those struggling players came to situation like mine, what done was already done and materials were already used so at that point I just continued to work with the palisade to at least get the other players in the town protected.

I am not perfect, I have moments of moral weakness, but I am extremely sure I live a far more honorable and friendly life than the absolute grand majority of the people on this planet.
--------------------------------

In summary: what I did to those 3 camps was wrong and that it inself is never excusable. However, (without detracting from the moral wrongdoings I did) you are far from any angel yourself: you had no justifiable reason to come and destroy and loot my home the first time you came; and if you had not destroyed and looted, the other 3 camps would never have been stolen as well. So in other words: you are not innocent: you are very much a large factor in why this became a mess in the first place, so don't try to escape your responsability.

You taught him the wrong lesson, MvPeh.

You shouldn't have said you killed him for moral reasons. You should have said you killed him for the penis god.

If you found one scent from me above trespassing, you would be making a legitimate statement. I helped nobody kill, I left no scents above trespassing, and nobody died in my 5 minute visit to stroll around your walls. I have stated this before, yet you are determined to be ignorant and miss the fact I harmed your village in no way. I came with a friend and a villager, no Ainran member was present; however, you had dealt with the ram and I took a stroll around your walls and left, never to come back to New Horizons again. I have stated this story many times, and it is the blatant truth.

I tracked trespassing scents to you, and I KO'd you and was going to tell you not to trespass, however, you had logged; I admit, I did destroy two cupboards. This was due to the fact that I had become stuck in your boat when you dropped it on top of me so I had to have a friend come and drop the boat somewhere. I admit, perhaps it was very crude to steal from you for merely leaving trespassing scents, and I apologize to that. That can go on my unforgettable pile of mistakes.

However, what I did last night, was in my opinion, justifiable. You have a learned not to steal, have you not? Perhaps I shall learn from stealing from you.

Oh, and I didn't know the story; why do I need to know a story? You left scents, that's a good enough story.

Anyways, I'll swing by to talk, if that's alright, sometime soon.

Early W6, I killed random noobs. Since then, I have killed not one noob without a scent. We went over this, and there's nothing else I can say here. I try to keep my killing over scents under my KOing over scents. I suppose I'm a bit harsh with trespassing scents.

I don't understand your relevance to anything happening here; am I missing something?

Anyways, sorry to all you guys flinging shit at me. I suppose most of you have reasons to dislike me, and these are the Haven and Hearth forums here, so I guess I'll just move along.

A reply to Mypeh:

You may have had good intentions, but yes, I would believe you were too aggressive on trespassing scents, since they are mostly harmless alone unless there are other forms of scents along with them. When I saw you at my home, my first reaction was: logout as quickly as possible and then warn the others in the town with an alt, about what I had reason to believe was a random raider; which is what I did, then I saw someone walk away with boat, I waited a few minutes then returned to the main.

As for the second attack: yes, in the position of a police, you should enforce the "law" no matter what mistakes you may have done in the past; it is actually really good movie/tv-series material.

On the good note, at least I know now which nearby police I can turn to if I see anyone attempting to raid/beat me for no reason (has happened twice before while friendly foraging a week ago).

I suppose there are several lessons to be learnt here for all parts. We'll try to continue building the peaceful society we intended to be our point from the start, before this mess started. We will understandebly have a major setback as the main crafter/forager/farmer was lost, but we'll overcome it eventuelly and this game is mainly about the journey.
