The mobile village experiment: now recruiting!

Postby gentleman_squid » Sun Jan 29, 2012 9:04 pm

First off, I know this is my first post, please don't take it as an accurate representation of my experiance with the game.

And now the good stuff:

I assume you came here because you saw the title and were intrigued by it, and I also assume that you are now wondering

WTF IS THE MOBILE VILLAGE EXPERIMENT!?

Well:

The concept

The concept is this: an active and industrious village with one unique feature, Its ready to pack up and leave at a moments notice, through the use of 'tactical storage' and wagons. Now I appreciate that there are plenty of immovable objects, such as ovens and cabins, so there are several options here; A: we have one permanent pali'd area, and B: we litter the land with semi-permanent camps which we cycle around. Personally I like B better, but we shall cross that bridge when we come to it.

And now:

Joining T.M.V.E.

To join the mobile village experiment, you require several things.

1: you must Must MUST have proof of genuine experience with the game, wether this be orally showing me your knowledge, turning up with a developed char, or what ever, this is essential!
2: A reasonable amount of play time each day, around four hours will do.
3: You must be a decent person I.E. Not waffles
4: You HAVE to be willing to specialise. specialisation is what will keep T.M.V.E. alive.
If you see this, add the word wagon into your application in green.
As of now (20:05 29/02/12) T.M.V.E. does not exist. at all. I will be starting a new char for this experiment, and although experienced chars are welcomed and supported, new chars are fine too.

Last time somebody tried this, they fell to the ground faster than a girlscout in a barfight.

Nevertheless, good luck to you and your friends and future companions.

2 things.

1: how are you gonna get metal?
2: if you really wanna do this properly youll find clay and build new kilns/smelters after every move(tear them down before a move), and if you think its a waste to use shitty q for it or have to buy new clay and bricks every move then you are a normal village, and not this mobile thing you claim cause i walk around outside a lot and have a central point where i keep my buildings, so i guess that makes me a mobile village too.

edit: sorry if i sound like a dick, just doesnt make sense to promote being a mobile village and then still have a fixed spot to do daily work.

Metal will be traded for. Since we will be mostly mobile in nature most of our trade items will be curio's and since we wont have a village idol we will have to do deliveries XD
also, mostly we will set up temporary camps which will last for no more than 24 hours :)

I am unable to find the post about the last caravan village, but as I recall, it was originally posted by a user named Rozn.

Hope you can use this.

Again, best of luck. I might be able to help by explaining some of the stuff involved when you decide to make a village on wheels, but let's discuss that in a PM.
