Absolutely excellent idea, if I were capable of porting back and forth/ paying dues of any kind, I would get involved in a heartbeat. It's an absolute shame that seemingly no one has responded, it really is an excellent idea.

No kidding.. you'd think something like this would even the playing field between hermit and villager life. As a villager you get access to pretty much everything you need and have generally high quality facilities. On the down side you often have no idea as to your value or even the villages success due to your efforts. Hermits know exactly what they are worth at all times, but have to make everything for themselves and rarely get to the point where high q facilities are possible.

Imagine for a moment, being a hermit but also having the ability to specialize in a specific field. You take the production in that field and barter it with other hermits in exchange for your raw materials (if you need any) and anything else you want (but aren't specialized in to produce them for yourself).

Or just imagine the progress you could make if you had a leg up with regard to higher q tools and facilities. Or starting that farm with q 50 seeds instead of q 10? Trade makes everything easier. Even if a fellow hermit doesn't have what you need, you now have a village idol which will allow you to trade with the prominent folks that post in the Apples & Oranges thread.

The danger of trade is becoming a target for raiders. Even the Trading Post got hit despite Dis/Ainran defense. This location provides no incentive for raiders and is hidden and walled enough to keep all but the most elite griefers at bay.

I'm just starting out my Hermitage, so I probably don't qualify yet, but I would be very interested in this idea. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help get it off the ground.

I don't mind joining.

Considering I switch a lot between characters. I think a additional talk location (IRC/Skype/?) might not be a bad thing.

I'm a hermit and considering that for the sake of secrecy I dont want that huge red dragon head over my claim id actualy like to join. Apcourse I would do extreme trading so I hardly ever going to use the public kilns and stuff *hermit powers of foraging are a true gift*

PM me the details and we can talk ;) I'd gladly make some wood donations to the public hub. Getting +110q wood soon.

Well, now the idea seems to be getting some traction.

I'll start working on digging out a suitable spot in the lower levels of my mine. The BW is going to be a pain in the arse and will take some time depending on it's size. This is a topic I'd like some feedback on.

How much space do we need at this facility?

Things to take into account:
How many production items do we want available? (Just 1 high q oven, or should we have 12 so a member can bake goods 1 LC at a time.)
Do members want to have personal property in the village or not? (5x5 claim, log cabin, stone mansion, larger?)
Will allowing storage space in this village make us an eventual target for raiders?

Feel free to throw any ideas you have into the mix. I'm open to suggestions.

1. Think you should build 1 of each and then look at the traffic, IF they get used to the point people got to wait in a line ,then we can build more.
2. Most deffinetly - the village should act as a shelter incase a hermit gets attacked. Problem is the hermits will need a 2nd char to get the 2nd claim. Or if you have ALOT of resourses then you could just make pali/brick walled houses and give each a key.
3. Most raids nowadays happen for the gigz. They wont care if there are any items in there or not. They will come to camp out trading hermits and such. Just build a good defense, have it underground and I think were safe. So im for the idea :)

Question : how long would it take for you to get an idol up? I really want to do some trading, but dont want to go build an idol if I wont need one soon :D
