How to find good villagers

It seems lately a few people I know ingame have had issues with recruiting new villagers to their town and I know its a major issue of concern for towns when they recruit people into their village.

So what is it you do when youre looking for new recruits?

some of the things i tend to do are as follows:

1. Check for new accounts
2. Check for post count
3. Check through posts of players, just to get a general feel for their game style
4. I tend to talk to people through pm or ingame somehow to get to know them. often in convo you get a better sense for what the player is like and also maturity levels
5. prefer newly spawned players as apposed to pre existing players (although not always possible)

theres a few other things, but what do other people check for when recruiting new players?

I just go by their application, if they half ass it then I just ignore it.

I like to go around look for stuff about them. aka check for some "juicy" gossip and i ask if they have a criminal rec. I don't care if theyve murdered some accept 5 or 6 i wont allow or wont let tresspass

Sometimes buffer villages are used, like your secondary village apart from main, where recruits live with each other and maybe with some people from main village on alts. You may give them specific tasks to do and see if they work, see if they are adequate in speech, etc. Those who pass are transfered into a main village.
