New Blood

Postby Nimtike » Fri Sep 07, 2012 6:07 am

I have been playing H&H for about a month now, hermit-ing it up and lurking on the forums. I would like to get the opportunity to join a town.

As for the type of town I would like to join, an older town would be nice. The solidity of a nice backdrop to contribute to would really be a nice touch in my gameplay.

Timzone: PST, West Coast USA, or whatever you want to call it.
Experience: Not much. My main has built a log cabin, has a small farm going, and I am currently working on a pallaside wall.
Time spent online: At least 30 minutes a night, usually longer. Sometimes in the morning too.

Also, since I'm a noob at this, I'm not sure whether I would teleport to the town with my main or just make a new character that would join.

Please PM with any invites as I would very much like to see what this portion of the game experience is like.

I don't want to discourage you but it's pretty late in the world for new players.

Actually now is a great time for new players. The power players are all focused on their personal wars. And the extreme power players only leave their walls if they have an enemy cornered and outnumbered, leaving no time to hunt for a little nablet. There are also plenty of ruins to kickstart your gear and quality if you know where to look.

That being said a month playing without a palisade means you must go pretty slow, and most villages will want more than half an hour a day of playing :)

Best of luck to you though.

It's never too late for new players. If anything, the resources available now allow him to play catch up especially fast if he can get access to through; such as through a town.

Truth be told, most of that time was spent either dying or just not knowing what to do. I looked up an actual tutorial about two weeks ago and have sort of gone from there.
Now I never play without the wiki up and probably have spent more time this last week on the wiki, just reading about different things, then actually in the game.

you're going slow my noob:
Age 1 weeks, 1 days
2 timber houses(probably building 2 more soon for storage...didn't know anyone actually built log cabins)
2 bear kills(can hardly ever find them on my main anymore)
decent sized claim(atleast for a 1 week old noob)
farm with everything except carrots and poppies(5 drying racks full of www, fingers crossed)

starting late in a world is actually easier than starting early. early world everyone is fighting over best resource spots, late world more resource spots have been discovered and most of them are abandonned(q40 clay at the edge of an abandonned claim is great). the trick to a late start is finding a great place to hide and staying close to a large but not too active village(unless they have enemies).

a late start gives you certain benifits but 30 minutes a day isn't enough time to play this game. I just spent 2 hours on 3 foraging trips...and I'd still be out there if I had the time! good luck to you, but I doubt you'll get any takers on this.

Hmmm, well alright then. It looks like I have work to do then. Either that, or just keep playing casually by myself.

And no, I don't mean that last bit like you think I meant it.
