Diary of a survivor

Slowly his eyes opened. At first blurry, then when time passed, more clear, he found himself washed ashore on the beach of an island... What happened to me he grunted. And then he remembered. The big fireball on the horizon, his uncle turned to ash in an instant and then... What did Mourabi remember? Nothing... But waking on the shore of an island.

He got up, looked around. Pine trees, pine trees and nothing but pine trees... He felt his stomach rumble in hungre and looked around. Is there really nothing to eat on this shit hole of an island? And then he heared something moving about in the brushes. Carefully he stepped forward to the noise he heard and there he saw a rabbit.

He sprinted to the animal, put his foot on it then caught it. Food! He butchered the rabbit, skinned it and roasted the flesh. After having eating his belly full he built a drying rack and put the hide to dry. That'll probably come in handy one day.

Well, it isn't much of a place, but let's call this home Mourabi said to his self. He made a bed from some pine bough and went to sleep...

I feel like this type of narrative has been attempted before with limited success.

This guy can't into dates. it should have been 17/06/2013 according to glorious master-race day/month/year system, in what kind of backwards country you live in?

Either that, or he means Day/Month/Year, in which case, 16th of June, A.D. 2013

You mean July? Seriously what's wrong with people on the forums not being acquainted with dates...
Ah, I know.
