Saddest Thing Happened Today

tl;dr:
I know "lol why u bitch about only two scrubs dieing?"
"lolwut dey don't haz teh steelz yit why u post in dis forum lulnoob."

Tonight, I was disheartened immensely. After having to save a village-man twice in less than twenty four hours from two separate groups of gankers, by whisking him away with a boat while they chased - I felt the grip of death closing in around us. This corner of our river system, although somewhat crowded, always seemed rather peaceful. After the first week of small "sling skirmishes", it seemed most of the aggressors had either left of their own volition, or been removed. It was quiet and peaceful. As recently as two days ago, this seems to have changed, suddenly, and quickly.

No stranger to death and danger, I prepared for the worst. I talked to my villagers, informing them of important tactics, advising them on the various dangers of ganks ranging from boat boxing to land pursuit/escape methods. I do hope that this will result in their safety, but I write this thread not about anyone I knew particularly well. Rather, two hermits who lived not so far down along the river named RoboRobo and HavensShadow, who I had taken to trading bulk baked goods for flotsams/bears, and other such things. Suffice to say, they were good, trusting people, who met up in the sketchy wilderness to drop valuables at my feet and haul back nommy goodies to their humble home.

This evening (9 hours after I had saved a villager from a B-12 Ttoting gank squad) HavensShadow was beaten and stripped naked, removed of everything, even all of his completely worthless gear. RoboRobo, incensed, wanted to track down the attacker, and exact vengeance. After an hour of searching for the attacker, I advised him to leave the vendetta for now, mark the attackers settlement, and return home. He agreed - It could not have been ten minutes later, the two of them heading to trade me a bear for carrot cake (lulwai carrot cake u wase milk u scrub) that they were both attacked and killed. The circumstances, and by who, I do not know. The only memento I have of them is their names on my kin list, still burning, but a "... is not logged in" to private message.

I can stand to die. But to watch these innocent, good hearted, and friendly people die is saddening beyond measure. I hate whoever did this.

RIP - RoboRobo
RIP - HavensShadow

I hope to someday avenge you.

Jorb, we need to change this guys name to Batman.

Srs bzns note, see about if they want to join you. Lots of people working together definitely can get a BW up much quicker than working alone.

I found his home, and his body - I can see why they needed the baked goods:
