I was perfectly surviving on a single palisade for a last 2 month in the DIS region, near the lake...

Just don't show others you have something of value to loot.

I can confirm that sometimes a palisade is safer than a brickwall.

Every day for a few days now, some assholes come by and steal 20 something leather at a time, and sabotage what they can't make off with.

Why on earth did you stay put! If you are being targeted daily you clearly need to move.

It is possible to play as a peaceful hermit, it's what I do, but as others have said you need to find a quiet spot and work on your defenses foremost, claim, pali and then b/wall.

I kin everyone I meet in-game and try to establish a peaceful relationship, even if they are raiders, as a lone hermit and non-violent most people aren't interested in raiding me, those that do will have to get past my defenses and even then my most valuable items are logged off on an alt. I learnt early on not to stockpile valuables anyway, that way if I am raided, whilst it's both annoying and upsetting, lol, I can recover quite quickly and not much is lost.

It also helps to have friends in your area that will help if the worst happens and vice versa. Not everyone is a newb targetting killer.
