Ultimately it all depends on how you intend to have fun with this game. People saying hermitting is noob-play just aren't creative enough. Villages can be pretty fucked up too. Besides, the best kind of people I've met in villages were those who were dedicated enough to survive hermitting for a while.

Amanda44 wrote:For me hermitting has always been more enjoyable than the race to power but that doesn't equal less knowledge or effort if you want to advance as quickly as possible, when it comes to hermitting the choice of how you play, how much you learn and how fast you pace yourself is down to you, it doesn't render it non-existent unless you choose to play that way.

I get the impression you all see me in my little log cabin, in my cute little pali, with my q26 axe and my q30 chickens, isolated from the world and wandering around in my q50 bearcape without a care in the world - - Actually, that sounds sweet, i'll take it. :D

I do own a q10 pig - :P

Also the term "Noob" is about knowledge and experience. It doesnt matter if they havnt had a q100+ B12 in their inventory, if they know how to get one and the process of upping the q then it doesnt matter, they arnt a noob. Noob is the kid that thinks his palli and q50 bearcape is good, or that is afraid when he sees someone in a bearcape.

And honestly hermits don't need the high q stuff. In the end, everything villages do q wise is to fight in the end (food --> combat stats, higher q leather and metal --> combat gear, ect) and seeing that hermits dont need to fight, there is pretty limited point in grinding up the q of most things.

Connotations are by their nature based on perspective of the individual since reading/communicating is a construct of the provider of said input and in today's environment almost over shadowed by the recipient of the input in its finished output. Regardless, discounting someone because they haven't achieved what you deem to be important in such an open environment is narcissism by definition. To conclude. Go Go Hermits every where.

As a hermit, I believe it's more of your playstyle than game knowledge or skill.

Hermits are more casual players, not opting out to PvP or race for the best gear, there's no real need for it.

Versus large villages with reputations, people compete for kills to brag and showoff, it's clearly for the more competitive/hard core player. At least that's my two cent. c:
