Thanks everyone - and esp Troll - straight on the case! 
Troll is a true hero, he has not only tracked and found who is responsible, he is also going to help me ram gates and rebuild, a task that seemed impossible to me alone, I honestly don't know if I would have continued without his - and all of yours - support.
With all of the help and offers this experience has now turned around from me wanting to give up to being totally bearable and I'm not going anywhere soon.
I can't thank everyone enough - including those who pm'd - I'm busy replying now - thank you all so much - this is a great community!
