Most villages are communal shit holes and any form of organization or law would be very counter productive to how villages are run.

I will never lose interest in such a matter. I'm too invested in it.

How about the fact that you started from bylaws, bureaucracy, procedure and otherwise superficial form, instead of actually gathering people with shared values, leaving form and procedure for later, when (and if) it becomes necessary?

I don't plan to gather individuals with shared values specifically, I plan to gather all individuals no matter how much they may disagree with me. With that in mind I hope to come to consensus on certain matters of importance that would benefit both enemies and allies alike. The bureaucracy is to organize the society. Without form or procedure it would be too chaotic to get huge public works done. Bureaucracy has its purpose in all organized society.

Like giving people someone to blame when everything goes down the drain and making things more complex than they should be.

You are contradicting yourself. Those common benefits are clearly shared values.

jcm2214 wrote:Without form or procedure it would be too chaotic to get huge public works done.

Here you are implying that one of those shared values is to get huge public works done. You are already setting an agenda.

I assure you I and Jorb use no formal bureaucracy when building Haven.

jcm2214 wrote:The bureaucracy is to organize the society.

There is no society to organize yet. How about you start on that end?

You might, however, find it hard to find people to form a society with when the first impression you give them is "come and play bureaucrat with me".

Why should one join your union? What would a village or individual gain from it?

You guys use Java, with its FactoryFactory.createFactory(UnnecessaryArgument a) which by default throws an exception unless you set some obscure setting first and add a certificate for it.
