It is definitely safer - I haven't died a single time, and yet these people are dropping likes flies. Maybe not if you are an ineffectual hermit, who does not take proper precautions to defend himself. But if I ever leave, I have my bucket(s) of water, a clear escape route, and the head on my shoulders not to leave scents.

Eventually, one of those people you kill is going to be aligned to some major faction, and eventually, that major faction is going to kill you.

I strongly believe that living in obscurity and protection, and running instead of fighting, is the safest way to live.
