When something like that happens and you don't have much to repair the damage is the best idea to move far far away. Also if perpetrator bashed once and if they come back and see you rebuild they bash it again just from pure pleasure to f**k you up again.

What's easier to build: A battering ram and spawn 4 fresh alts to use it, or a whole new base with new palisade and new houses?

Yeah, building a ram would not have been difficult. We're moving because the location is compromised.

You'll be hard pressed to find an area in this world someone else has not already been to, or will go to now. It's all been searched over and over again. People are constantly looking for new things, foraging, etc, co finding that "perfect" private spot isn't impossible, just improbable.

It's actually easier to build new palisade.
Battering ram:
-30x block of wood - no brainer easiest to get
-20x board = also easy
-5x bone glue - this is actually the hardest part here as if someone already trashed your plot you have no animals and probably all cupboards smashed so no bones lying around. If you have no fighting skills as newb you can't go out and just punch animals so you need ranged weapon if you have any... if not you are screwed and stick with rabbits. Good luck finding 50 rabbits compared to 20 needed for palisade.
-20x branch = easy
-4x rope - again if someone smashed your place to the ground only thing to acquire rope in short time is to go out and forage. The more you are running around the better are chances that perpetartor is also running around and looking for you to kill you.

Palisade:
-100x block of wood = easy
-10x leather - 10 rabbits not so hard and you even need 20 rabbits anway
-20x bone glue - hardest part
-5x rope - aye this is probably second hardest piece in palisade, but still better than getting 50 rabbits.

When you get smashed your place you cannot trust anyone even people "offering" fake help just to get your head...
Newb in my vocabulary means character not having more than 50 skills and less than 30 in attributes, their plots not even developed to have all stuff to quickly rebuild things.

And again building ram is greater risk than building new palisade far far away. Perpetrators come back in 90% of times to finish their job and if they will see ram they will destroy it and kill all online people.
In case like OP wrote it's just better to quickly pack up things and run away while he still have head on the neck, pick up everything you can on your way and start building somewhere else. Rebuilding houses and palisade is much faster and safer than building ram and fixing your place. And even if they rebuild palisade, perpetrator will come back and smash it again, because he/she knows their location now. Without brick wall at that location they are screwed over and over and brick wall is way out of reach for newbs.

It was not. Worst thing we lost were a couple of flots and glimmermoss (and the character).

You would be surprised. It's not hard to stay concealed.

Yeah the key is to be under the radar, moreso than alone. Anyone can always walk past, but they probably won't unless you give them a reason to. I don't think I came across any other hearthlings near the plot or even on any foraging/exploration trips.

Then someone leaves a scent and 24 hours later someone bashes a gate in.
