Actually I don't think its the scents mechanic that is the problem. I rather like the fact that scents are left if its justified or not or whatever. Leaves it up to you. The problem imo is with other stuff - siege, lack of other endgame (paradoxically) [, human nature in a postindustrial global capitalist society], etc.

To whoever saw my little improvised camp, took the runestone I made and left me a message to say that my camp suck... you really have no life.

Don't get me wrong, you are right, my camp sucks. I've been playing this game for 3 or 4 hours, I still don't know most of the fonctions of this game. I'm trying to learn how to even make a freaking fence to put animals in it and stuff... So yeah... my camp sucked. I'm a newbie. Good job for realizing that when you looked. I knew it was bad when I logged off from the game but I thought it was a start at least...

But since it sucked so fucking bad, did you really have to steal anything of even remote value from my camp? Killed the two baby chickens and leave the "mess" behind? Destroy most of the items I made (not that it was that much). Really? You see a player who barely starts, can't even farm (i mean i have plowed lands but i still don't know what's the next step... the game being so full of hints and everything) and your first reflex is: Yeah, I know what this game needs. To get rid of this guy.

Did you enjoy yourself. Did you come in your pants when you were able to bully around a noob. Did it make you feel all powerful? Hope it was good for you because for me... not so much.

Now, does anyone knows a version of this game that isn't made as a douchebag simulator?

Sorry to hear about your loss, but there is only one server and there are a lot of cruel people and griefers. You'll have to deal with it in your own way. You can try to join a village, keep developing as a hermit and get a brickwall, which makes you pretty much safe if you take some precautions, or become a dickhead yourself, harass noobs, die from random ranger and quit. I'd suggest you to take a break for a couple of days and then return and spawn in some new place to start over.

That's your answer? Be a douchebag or pray you don't meet one? Is this really all there is to this game? Build yourself something and hope to avoid assholes? I'll stick to my idea of finda better game, one where the devs care at least a little about getting new players instead of no giving a crap.

I thought the whole point was that you're surviving. The game's rough but not unreasonable. If you're not safe where you live, move farther away. Make friends, there's power in numbers.

Haven and Hearth, you either die by griefers, or live long enough to see yourself become one.

That said, if you want a safe place to live, I can offer my home. I've got friendly neighbors. Shoot me a pm.

I had briefly docked my boat when some dudes came by with B12s, took my boat, beat me up, and then attempted to rob me. I say "attempted" because they didn't actually take anything as far I could tell, and they actually left a ~200Q sausage in my inventory. Then they spoke to me in russian, I answered "Hello", they said hi, and then left, giving me back the boat. I ate the sausage.

I don't know how to feel about this. 5/10 would be griefed again.

Is punch-and-kiss griefing a trend now? Not long ago I was beaten by an Endless Serenity party for no reason, who seconds later gave me a saw, hq water and cheese. Best griefing ever.

It was a thing for years. Friendly towards noobs people get bored too, so sometimes they do that, leaving curios, notes with messages, clothes, etc. Or bash your pali to leave something. It can be hard to make contact with random person you met in the woods, people usually start running when they see players in good equip, so sometimes you have to KO them to start conversation atleast.
