I asked a few months ago if this person would be interested in coming back to play and i got a resounding NO, and since Jillas was not playing any more, i changed the password and email to prevent hacking.

the person that originaly gave away the accounts did not bother asking his friends if they had his account.

There is MY Side of the story.

The email change wouldn't have been possible if there was greater account security as I suggested.

If Jorbtar require old email's confirmation before moving to a new email they wouldn't have to police this.

That would mean that the e-mail can't be changed at all if the original e-mail is lost, though.

How about you either need confirmation from the old e-mail, or it's on a timer.

So when someone tries to change an account's e-mail, a message is sent to the adress saying that someone wants to change email ect ect, and a link to either allow, or block this change.

If neither link is clicked for 72 hours, then the email is changed. If it can be done, then some sort of notification in-game would be good too.

To be fair, though, I don't think that helps too much either way. The only time more e-mail-address-change security even matters is when someone else has already logged in on your account anyway, and then all bets have already been off for a while and all your characters may already be dead and your village razed. Being able to reset the password seems like a comparatively small consolation at that point.

In the end, I have not yet encountered a case where it couldn't fairly be said that someone messed up his own security in one way or another for which he only has himself to blame. Not that I don't welcome suggestions for better account security than there currently is, but those that I've seen thus far have seemed very insignificant, at best.

Just to clarify, this is of course not to condone account theft, and I happily punish thieves whenever I can actually find them with some kind of proof that I'm content with. I'm just saying that when you use a password like "123", or use a keylogging client, or share your password with people you shouldn't be trusting, you'll have to be quite a nice guy to actually find sympathy for your own case.
