I've done it before.
It's for when you don't want to see them in threads like Screenshots where they post no screenies but only studies/textual posts, but if it's an interesting thread you show their posts. It's neat.

To see if they're still posting the exact same thing a week later. Its kinda laughable and sad at the same time imho.
It's also spam ;< "Put some effort into your posting!" I'd argue hitting ctrl + v every day isnt effort.
