There's a balance between handholding for beginners and outright telling someone how to play. People "should" be able to deduce things like that, but not all will. Still it's worth not covering every explicit detail like that to give people room to learn and grow early in the game before they've invested months and get smashed for being stupid.

While I agree with you, there are unintuitive details that are hard to figure out on your own and that aren't really listed anywhere plainly. For the most part, we know about them and we've mentioned them here and there on the forums, but finding that information is difficult if you're not fully invested in digging.

Details like having claims erected around you to block you in, altwalls, and various little exploits that we all hate. Heck, until recently you could be entirely fucked by having someone build a house in front of your gate and you just sort of had to deal with that.

Sealing cornerposts isn't very intuitive, but it is detailed on the wiki at least, so if you're an avid reader then you won't be screwed like this.

not just about sealing cornerposts, but even when you knew, you sometimes forget about something important and get screwed ;) some people want to point fingers at such mistakes others make, but you know, karma visits them equally, choosing exactly the very wrong(or right) time when they dont expect it to happen, sometimes in game, sometimes in real life, or vice versa.

I don't see how sealing cornerposts isn't intuitive. You don't want to give raiders, griefers, or otherwise hostile and malicious players ANY opportunity to modify your walls or its surrounding environs, period. Not sealing posts allows them to do it extremely quickly and easily.

Speaking of which, my friend set up a claim close to mine and left some cornerposts unsealed with wall sections protruding from it for "future expansion," (figuring that no one would bother building a cornerpost from it to grief it), and recently some raiders used it to extend a siege palisade next to my wall and build a ram in it. I expressly told my friend NOT to do that, but he never really heeded my warnings anyhow. On top of that, he built his palisade in such a way that makes it difficult to place brickwalls, either from the inside or outside.

In retrospect, I probably should have just taken the initiative and sealed them myself, but didn't because I didn't want to upset him. Serves me right, I suppose; civility is a luxury in this game that one can ill afford.

Oh, hey Azula, I was wondering how you were going to deal with that. After I saw you get sealed into your place and found plenty of random murders happening all over the place, Skylark and I decided to just book it and find somewhere new to settle. We were your neighbors to the south in that cave.
Trust only in your strength.

Well, waiting for help did no result so I dealed with that breaking my hearthfire, taking tons of seeds and valuable stuff with me and then respawning on a better place (tried to find a place far away from cities...and In fact I found... and there's A LOT of unclaimed caves)

Everything is fine, I'm free, on a peaceful place and the griefer is dead (lol?)
Sad that I lost the few nice neighbors :c (you and Sky were some of them)

Anyways I wish luck to you, and when that wall colapses, fell free to take my stuff xD
