I know how the game works. I said it correctly :) And xcom's bots don't have much influence on the world. Most of his bots are just amazing scripts of speed up process of manual chores, so instead of manually doing 100 logs which you would do in 10-15min, you "auto-do" them in 8 min. Don't see much gamebreaking there.

Oh, you mean those Ender's edits? I meant the usual scripts like farmbot, cheesebot, forage bot, etc. Game break even when you are peacefull.

Considering that all players have potential influences on other players. Its a tricky argument for a MMORPG game.

@Tonkyhonk: Roger that.

If you do it for yourself, you don't influence on anyone. If you do 15 cheese mansions and eat 500 cheese per day + don't go out and figt you don't influence anyone. If you don't sell it you don't influence anyone. And that is most of xcoms work, he does it for the joy of himself. Makes complicated things in hnh easy to go along so most of them are 150 click stuff turned into few clicks. He is not having, using or providing pearl bots, foraging bots, combat bots or those that are helpfull in survival and leveling.

edit: not sure if this bot talks will bring us anywhere, so whatever :)

But if he doesn't 'go out and fight' he can still theoretically be sieged and that's when the botted stats come in handy. Hands down if he would bot stats on a char and keep it logged off during a siege on his city.

Because people are more open towards them now, more people use them (or just admit to using them), so whenever someone's butthurt after losing or that kind of thing, they call the victorious ones out on bots.

Bots smots. Let's see some banter back and forth about rivalrys and fueds? Less talk about who killed a noob and more talk about large factions fighting? Where are the epic battles between these Botting powerhouse groups? Now that would be interesting. Not more discussions about "Big boys" and their bots. killing peaceful noobs for their 23q carrots and posting screenies of underdeveloped skulls. Give us something we can rally behind? A crusade against bots is not exciting at all. Have a nice day :D

I had no idea really untill this world just how widespread the use of bots are, previously I was under the impression it was mainly just the big factions, the reasons being competitive.

Over the last wk and a half I have spoken with three new players in-game, the first one was asking me quite a lot of questions with regard to 'how to', by quite a lot I mean constant, lol, so I asked him if he read the forums - he didn't and I told him he should as there's a wealth of information here and he would find it helpful. Two days later he speaks to me again to ask me if I knew how to make the bots work - :( - I told him I don't use them and couldn't help.

The second one asked me the same question straight out after the initial, 'hello - where you from, how long you been playing,' pleasantries and the third, who I met this morning, said they had only been playing 35 mins and had read on the forum that the only way to play this game was by using bots!

I find that incredibly disheartening and quite shocking. I'm begining to think maybe Xcom and Ramones are right, maybe the majority of players do use bots and that is so sad. :(

This is such a wonderful game, why can't you enjoy it as it is? I fully understand there are boring bits, i've been around long enough now to know certain things take far too long and become tedius when you are doing them for the umpteenth time, it's even worse if you hermit and can't play 24/7 but, even so, there is that sense of achievement when you've built your mansion/b/wall/farmed your fields and raised quality, all of which is lost when using bots to do it.

Occasionally when i'm really fed up with burning bricks for the third week in a row, lol, I think maybe this will be the last world for me - I don't think 'oh, i'll just use bots' because, imo, then why play at all?

If it's for competitive reasons then I understand it more but these newbs were single players - actually one was part of a couple - and were going to be hermiting ........ :!: :?: :!: ......... why even play? I just don't understand.

I can see a time in the future when unless there are some changes, more frequent updates and occasional new content, ofc, i'll get tired of hnh, there are only so many times you can do the same thing over and over, lol, if it wasn't for the fact that i've never had a lower level mine to find gold and silver (my aim this world) then I'm not sure i'd still be here now if i'm honest, but when the time does come that I feel i've done it all, then i'll just move on, not resort to having everything done for me by botting.

I think it's a real shame that new players are coming to this game and forum and thinking the only way forward is to copy the 'big players' and use bots. What a lot they are going to miss out on, it's tragic, seriously, it is. :(

@Amanda44
I think you should enjoy the game as it is. Maybe if you enjoy scripting you might enjoy the scripting side of it as well. But as for the newbies I think its all up to one self to choose if botting should be part of the game experience or not. I still think there are alot of others that really do play haven without scripts to start off with.

I would say it might be bad to start off using scripts but then its like W1 players crying over how we late worlders didn't get to experience haven like it was in the old golden days.

@Unostop
I think it might have something to do with to many game exploits being removed from the game all at the same time. Alot of people I talk to say its just ridiculous camping rams for 24h. Last world more of the drama happened cause of the bugrams and the fact you could breach someones wall with them. It might be that the ram fixes really did kill raiding and forum drama in haven. It might point to a possible flaw in havens siege mechanic.

@NOOBY93
I honestly don't have a proper combat toon setup yet. I would set one up but botted curios or cheese wont win you combat. My ping is the worst possible so even if I had 5 times your stats I might even crash middle of combat. Australian internet service is not best to pvp in. I would hit the forums and complain how Europeans with such a low ping should be throttled but then I might come of as whiny as those bot haters.
