ok i dont know how to do that brown box quote thing so i have to do it old school

amanda what i was saying was not that you had high end or not high end items what i was simply stating is would they help a hermit who was not well known

tonkyhonk you said first it really depends on who you are and how you have acted or how others think/expect you would act.
this is mmo, after all. interactions with other players (no matter in game or on the forums as long as its related) weigh highly. its not that you have to be famous nor to have high post counts, but that helps too sometimes indeed. but most of the time your ingame behaviors help you more for your reputations and helps you when you post on the forums for the first time too. we all know some people only got loud mouths but no actual actions witnessed in game.
so by reading what you said i have to be in the community do trades and make lots of posts in here before i can recive any help ... or at least thats how i read it
second you said also, we, the community, tend to disregard those coward voices hidden by alt accounts.
so because i dont have alot of posts i must be a alt account .... no not really i just like to keep to myself

i am not condoning the raid on amanda i feel sorry for her i was raided not long ago and was like a*****s i know what its like to rebuild but to say im a alt because my post count isnt high or to say i have to talk to people to play the game takes the fun out of it for me

No, say for example you are raided and create a post asking for help with locations of scents or where you tracked to, etc. Just because you are not an active member of the community doesn't mean you won't receive help from someone, it is just less likely that others will risk their character or their own villages for someone they know nothing about.

There's usually always someone willing to do some ranging out of boredom or for a fee, however. To think you'd receive the same response as Amanda has without actually having been a part of the community for a good while isn't really reasonable though.

read what i said again.
you could receive help even when you are new, but you may have to be lucky to meet someone in game/chat or make a nice post that draws players attentions in a good way or approach someone you hope to get help from. if you are silent and play alone and have no interactions with others at all, how can you expect anything from others who do not know your existence?

when i was new, i hardly posted but only a very few for joining a group and a question, too busy learning ropes with others i started playing with. but we got very lucky to meet very nice and friendly players both in game and on the forums who offered us loads of aids and assistance and we tried our best to contribute back to them as we could, though not much we as newbs could do then. ive met many in game who never post on the forums too, and guess what, quite a few of them have built their own reputations only in game to receive enough help from others. forum posts can help, but not too important as you *may* think. most people know that in game actions/behaviors are much more important than just forum posts.

now, i do what i feel i should, in game, on the forums, in chat, to pay back for all the help i have gotten and i still get help when i need and i help back when and where i can. as you get to know more people, your chances of getting help increases (as long as you arent being an arsehole, that is), as well as the times you cannot help others as you want.

so because i dont have alot of posts i must be a alt account .... no not really i just like to keep to myself

i dont think i ever implied that you are an alt though, if you didnt notice. i was referring to the other guy. i didnt even check your post count till you said that because your post sounded like you were rather just "new" than "an alt".
but myeah, if you dont want to talk to people, its your call, but you cant expect others to treat you the same as those who actually talk and interact with others.

im typing so slow, kaios has beaten me to it.

Amanda44 wrote:Thanks Petal - turns out everyone has been most generous and helpful and along with all the help from Troll, (who not only tracked, but was there for me all day despite having drama's of his own to attend to), I am now well on the way to recovery. :D

Two players who would rather remain behind the scenes so to speak, have very generously restarted my silk production and provided me with the steel and wrought to fix the gates, in addition I have been given wine, supplies and tools from my friends and have been overwhelmed by the response in general.

A special mention has to go to Ninijutsu - he came over to mine with more pearls than I have ever seen! More than enough to replace things like my treeplanters pots, various tools and to be able to buy the materials needed to start me back up again - and ofc, to be able to pay back the generosity of others.
Thank you Nini - I couldn't believe it when I saw them! They will make such a huge difference to me going forward and was such an unexpected gift.

And - before anyone else gets any funny idea's, they are all stashed away on alts, as is everything now, once bitten twice shy, so not accessible -

Talking of the raiders - I have had contact with them, or with an ally of theirs - it's hard to tell really - and if there are further developments I will update the thread.

They say that the crossroads were just an open invitation and I understand that, it was a real moment of stupidity on my part as I've already admitted, but even so you still had a choice. Firstly you had to bash into the other base, through two pali's, your intentions were clearly not good, though honestly why you would bother for such a small base is beyond me.
Then, once you did access mine it must have been obvious that I hermit and had little in the way of riches, yet you still felt the need to take everything and finally, to add insult to injury, you take my keys, all my wine and then leave the outer gates wide open!
I'm sorry if I'm not more forgiving atm. I very nearly gave up because of you! If it wasn't for Troll immediately stepping in and taking control of the situation, I probably would have.
From what you have said, and your island vault, raiding is your playstyle so I find it hard to believe that my limited goods were really either needed or desired by you which just makes matters worse.

This does not mean however that I am not open to the retrieval of my goods, esp the keys, all of them mind - not just because they are needed, I still feel the need to replace my outer gates either way but more towards making amends for all the upset, trouble, time and effort you have caused, not only to myself but to all the other members of the community that have rallied round to help. The choice remains yours.

I know everyone must be sick of me saying it now, lol, but I'm really grateful to everyone who pm'd me, who offered help and who did help, it means an awful lot to me that I have had so much support. I hope you are all aware that I would gladly do the same if the situation were reversed. :)

I would very much like to reimburse those who gifted me the supplies I needed, and thanks to Nini that is now possible, so I will be in touch as soon as I can.

Thank you everyone. :D
