I've always really liked Brodgar as a project and I don't think it can die that easily, so I assume you guys are exaggerating.

yea it was dying before the raids happened. and i think that was just because of timing alot of ppl going back to school, vacations, or because of work.

It couldve also been the economy, it was pretty hard getting resources especially like WI and steel for everyone to build their BW, and wine and beer for traveling to the keep. This grind combined with the loss of the key influential members have made it pretty boring around the city. I know I havent been logging on as much.

It would be cool to split brodgar into different locations, noth, east, south and west andmaybe one in centre.
Its difficult to progress when ure sharing the same resources as 20 others.

Also more community projects, run by the leaders of the town. Andcwalling a large area with bigger plots may make it more sustainable for ppl to develop and see it as a community rather than individuals foing their own thing

A lot of small raids made people quit. Nothing big, really.

I think that blaming raids (if any, as I'm been logging on less and less. Darn, forgot my chickens again ...) is kinda blaming the wrong thing here.

... What work (or not) for real City's, also applies to Brodgar. ...

O yea. I don't know what claim-rights it takes for others to plant tree's on a p-claim. Was planning to use plot N3W2 as general tree(public wood source) plot. But is some others like to start planting tree there, let me know. (Skype or PM, as in-game contact is a bit problematic.)

It goes up and down. Raids are not the only cause for the current drop off. I think it is worth noticing that the game population, which was crossing 1000 people at the beginning of this world, is now often sitting at 300 something. And as people who play in Brodgar are often newer, less dedicated players, their drop off rate is even higher.

I will continue to log on and farm my plot most days. I may reopen my bakery in a few months when I get past a few irl deadlines.

No it wasnt dying before raids happened it was growing very well. It start to die when raiders began to kill newbies. Srsly brodgar was never seriously raided it dies cause theres no expirienced players.

Newbies died cause they walked around with ther main farmer\crafter > die > very hard to start from compleatly 0 > they quit. Some advanced newbies builded palisade and keept gates open while was doing something on plot > die  amazing numbers of people even managed to keep gates open with key in chest near gate or keyalt loged near opened gate and both die + loose key.

Hard to get wine or beer? I was always offering free bucket of wine to newbies, and why is it hard? Getting wine in brodgar is absolyutely same as in any toher place. Hard to get wi in Brodgar? How u gona get it when ur newbie-hermit? And why u need it?? U wont ever die with your main crafter\farmer if you will be following this things > build simple palisade + wear crappy q bronze plate for archers and use disposable chars for foraging, never leave walls with your farmer, use idol porting + CR to get out and before you log in on your plot check place with your forager or any alt in case if your palisade was bashed and raiders currently inside. If you farming on your plot and see people start to bash your palisade just run indoors drop off combat and logout thats all.

Further for total safeness you can build minehole on your plot then move all your valuable stuff there, build there a house and leave only farm on surface. Each time loging off block mine entrance from surface to mine so it will be extreamly tedious to raid both of your surface and underground even having a palibasher. Im not saying even about if you will brickwall both surface and underground. Then you will be raided only in case if you will leave serious scents.

And about getting resourses > carry bucket of wine and go to node with your forager > place there HF > get resouese in containers put em in boat and TP to Idol where store it in signets if it is clay or just drop logs if it is wood > do it so many times how many you need > then transport resourses to your plot with your farmer who have HF on your plot. Yes it consumes some wine, but its damn EASY to get SHITLOADS of wine urself.

HnH is game where you need to do things to buy other things. You need always to master time efficiency if you want to play this game and not to sit all day there. Brodgar dies cause newbies dont understand that its just same as hermiting except that there posibility of live trade and raiders wich will anyway someday come to any hermit but then you will be alone and palibashed\brick rammed for sure.

How far away is the nearest trees? (seems like the biggest problem of Brodgar)

Last time I lived there I built in the northern half of the city where there was still trees everywhere. I'm sure they've all been chopped by now. With nobody really replanting them or making an effort to the treeline has assuredly receded enough to make collecting trees for your palisade difficult. Moreso than before.
