Demanding terms and then expecting to be placed at the highest levels of such a faction. I am afraid they would eat you alive.

You are trying to shape the game to your will. The harder you try that the more people will resist you. No one likes being told what to do or how to play. All you will do is place some innocents in harms way. Eventually you will find the private spot of a member of a big faction and upset them. Then if your still playing the game they will ensure you die.

Be careful what you put out into the game and whos toes you step on. I can not stop you from positng but should heed my warning.

I think Vaku should release his own location in this thread. If he thinks this is such a wonderful idea, it is only logical that it be outed as proof that this idea is so great and nothing but good will, love, peace, flowers and puppies will come of it.

i think Vaku has good intentions with sharing informations - while i'm into a lot you wrote Amanda44

@Vaku
opt in ingame to show village name when someone comes across the vclaim and steps on it to show the name is by no means opting in to have it listed with Coords at forums or in an external webhosted spreadsheet - there's a huge difference in my opinion

It's a two-edged sword ... that prolly most of the time cuts the wrong necks ...

Also - what do you think what would happen if you'd do the same with high q resources and post Coords with gathered informations ?!? :P

Of course Brodgar, the one place I consider sacred.

My poor basher. He was so excited too.

I realise that but I then expanded on it in my 2nd post. Even with good intentions I still think it is irresponsible, and selfish in that it's not his call to make. We should be 'allowed' to opt out if we so choose.

Isnt strange vaku, that your trying to do what congress did in the marvel universe, the Brotherhood of Steel did in the Fallout Series, and what Batman did in the DC universe?

can you not tell that by these examples it is a very horrid idea to chronicle and post location info on everyone in game? there are some people who want to be left alone, as stated in many posts so far.

1. congress wanted all superheros secret identities to be listed for accountability. Captain America gets pwnt, along with alot of minor heros.
2. the brotherhood wanted to chronicle info and prewar technologies, gets pwnt by the ncr, ends up starting a war with the enclave.
3. Batman had a secret file on all the JL members, it gets hacked and people get pwnt.

notice the trend and correlation between posting info and pwnage of people?

please, stick to chronicling events and leave the locations ultra vague.

You can't stop anyone from exploring and taking note of what villages they find. This is "public domain" insomuch as it's freely availible information to anyone in the gameworld that arrives in a certain location (by the fact that the game tells you when you enter village terrain). If you're so butthurt about that, then you should prevent access to your village claim (either walling it off, or patrolling and killing anyone you see exploring or travelling). Obviously keeping a low profile is the first measure of security but random names of villages is nothing more indentifying than the village idol icons on the world map (and the world map is much more dangerous because it shows geographic features... "hmm why did someone put an idol here is there something here? Better check it out.").

Vaku, for your part, since this is "Geography of Interest", the only things you should list are things that already have some sort of fame or infamy in the community. Randomly listing all the little villages you encounter does the thread a disservice and can cause grievances (as the majority of this thread shows).

Also I think your grid system is crap and arbitrary. You can't determine the location without a third party reference guide, which I think is sort of stupid. Also what happens if the world expands again? I think you should bring back the directional SG identifiers. Sure each SG can be 4 characters for their ID instead of 2, but it's much more relatable and descriptive. For example Brodgar (I'm using Brodgar because it's coordinates have been publicly displayed on the forum before), is in N1E2; that already tells people it's easterly, slightly north; and those who know more about geography could tell it's on the easterly end of the central 5x5 just by that 4-character SG label. It's adaptable if the world expands, and it corresponds more easily with the X,Y, tile coordinates in the world map (N and W are - for their axis, S and E are +; this means a NW is -x.-y, a NE is x,-y, SW is -x,y, SE is x,y).

To be fair though all of your examples are hilarious (not to mention fictional)
