this is exactly what im talking about. stop encouraging new players to bot or to leave by saying "everyone bots".
i originally wouldnt bother others botting to "win", but i am horribly bothered by hearing these stuff in public.

Because people are more open towards them now, more people use them (or just admit to using them),

I had no idea really untill this world just how widespread the use of bots are, previously I was under the impression it was mainly just the big factions, the reasons being competitive.

Over the last wk and a half I have spoken with three new players in-game, the first one was asking me quite a lot of questions with regard to 'how to', by quite a lot I mean constant, lol, so I asked him if he read the forums - he didn't and I told him he should as there's a wealth of information here and he would find it helpful. Two days later he speaks to me again to ask me if I knew how to make the bots work - :( - I told him I don't use them and couldn't help.

The second one asked me the same question straight out after the initial, 'hello - where you from, how long you been playing,' pleasantries and the third, who I met this morning, said they had only been playing 35 mins and had read on the forum that the only way to play this game was by using bots!

I find that incredibly disheartening and quite shocking. I'm begining to think maybe Xcom and Ramones are right, maybe the majority of players do use bots and that is so sad. :(

This is such a wonderful game, why can't you enjoy it as it is? I fully understand there are boring bits, i've been around long enough now to know certain things take far too long and become tedius when you are doing them for the umpteenth time, it's even worse if you hermit and can't play 24/7 but, even so, there is that sense of achievement when you've built your mansion/b/wall/farmed your fields and raised quality, all of which is lost when using bots to do it.

Occasionally when i'm really fed up with burning bricks for the third week in a row, lol, I think maybe this will be the last world for me - I don't think 'oh, i'll just use bots' because, imo, then why play at all?

If it's for competitive reasons then I understand it more but these newbs were single players - actually one was part of a couple - and were going to be hermiting ........ :!: :?: :!: ......... why even play? I just don't understand.

I can see a time in the future when unless there are some changes, more frequent updates and occasional new content, ofc, i'll get tired of hnh, there are only so many times you can do the same thing over and over, lol, if it wasn't for the fact that i've never had a lower level mine to find gold and silver (my aim this world) then I'm not sure i'd still be here now if i'm honest, but when the time does come that I feel i've done it all, then i'll just move on, not resort to having everything done for me by botting.

I think it's a real shame that new players are coming to this game and forum and thinking the only way forward is to copy the 'big players' and use bots. What a lot they are going to miss out on, it's tragic, seriously, it is. :(

exactly, that's why we should stop making every single thread a discussion about bots, if nobody is going to bother to even make it against the rules then the least we can do is make it less known, as long as people don't know about it then they can't get annoyed by it I guess :|

I never thought much about them before this world but now that I realize it's basically something most serious players do, I'm beginning to feel like an idiot when I have to go around chopping mass quantities of trees or paving large areas because I know all the other fuckers are sitting back with their feet up while 5 clients are doing the same job, the fact that it's allowed is what's the most stupid, the equivalent of which is like if counter strike decided "yeah aimbotting is fine, here's a subforum for sharing your aimbot developments", this is a competetive perma-death PvP game you can't just allow everyone to cheat because it basically becomes a mandatory thing; you either cheat or you lose

Not more discussions about "Big boys" and their bots. killing peaceful noobs for their 23q carrots and posting screenies of underdeveloped skulls. Give us something we can rally behind? A crusade against bots is not exciting at all. Have a nice day :D

They're all waiting on a bot that PVPs.

I really dont care about the botting issue being presented in this thread, the issue I am having a problem with is the new players thinking that the whole game revolves around them. "I want to quit cause a guy killed me and my friends, and he might bot." that bullshit doesn't fly. If you want to play the game, play it and accept that there are those who use bots either to gain some advantage or simply to learn some coding skills. last time i checked the map was huge, if you want to play, play, but dont try to guilt trip us into changing over your ragey temper tantrum. there are hundreds of mmo's out there and a handful of sandbox type, yet i know for absolutely sure that there are botters and cheaters in everyone of them. even if there are rules against it, there are those who cheat to make rtm's or just to troll moralistic nubs like you. so either play or dont, but stop the infantile "stop botting and killing me or i quit for realz." threads. it saves us IQ points and sanity points.

I don't even think you read the thread. Let alone the first post.

I'm doing a computer science course, I'm well aware of how to code but I thought this was a game, I don't need more bloody programming assignments

all these people arguing 'for' the use of bots are kind of boring, I mean obviously if I had all the bots I wouldn't be complaining and wouldn't give a shit if they're a problem or not, but what I wouldn't do is start spamming forums with "hurr bots are a good thing, you all just need to learn programming if you want to play this game!" because I would at least be aware of how moronic that sounds

I don't have anything against botters, it's the obvious thing to do if you want to stay ahead in this game but the fail lies with the game creators/moderators, I mean you only have to look at any other game in existence to see how you're supposed to do things, Wurm is basically almost the same thing as haven and do they allow you to make bots? no. They don't even allow basic macros to do automated clicking. The game is run by 1 man but it's not hard to appoint some GMs and to get them to police things, one time I had a basic mining macro going all night while I was sleeping and apparently I guess if you mine without stopping for 10 hours it notifies a GM or something so one teleported to me and asked me to respond but I was asleep so he just permabanned me :P What I didn't then do was go on forums like "wtf why did u ban me bots are a good thing why dont you all just learn programming?!" because I have the sense to see what a huge unfair advantage botting with 5 clients gives me unlike some people here >_>
