The whole idea of Brodgar is a city where visitors come, say hi to each other, buy food on vending stands with silver coins, small brawls happen, feasts are made, lots of follow-trains are initiated.
Can't have walls.

This type of gameplay isn't possible anymore since w3 ended. Everyone needs to either deal with it or prepare an army to deal with griefers instead. And don't get me wrong, I'm one of those that would give everything to have peacefull area for Brodgar to have its life there.

On other hand, you can build walls, be safe, still roam around Brodgar streets and have barters as you wanted them to have, just inside town itself.
W8 - Hermitage
W7 - Emerald City
W6 - Gomorrah
W5 - Pandemonium
W4 - Angkor
W3 - Angkor

This. Since W3, since botting, since alt wars.

I'm not sure if everyone is aware, but W7 Brodgar is different from W6 in that it has a keep surrounding the idol. And I noticed some people have been tree farming there.

Regarding the tree planting idea, I say ignore BTaylor and go for it. A lot of people would find it helpful. I have noticed that there is a huge over estimation of griefing in this game. Take XComs Bridge in W6 Brodgar. People were saying it would be destroyed in a day. It stayed up until the reset was declared and a major death match broke out.

Well, I'm there now. Yeah, there's issues, but with perseverance, all obstacles can be overcome. Maybe it will take some redesign.

Already ran into one person that mentioned tree planting. I'm not sure if he was just doing his own for quality or trying to increase the number of trees in the area. I saw some growing already in an open area.

The thing is, everyone in Brodgar seems to be reluctant to any work of such kind.

Do you mind explaining what is has to do with defending poor citizens? In my opinion, the only thing it defends is the idol.

This is the most painful response I've seen.
When someone gives you advice, don't expect him to do it for you.
And anyway, even if he were to build a wall, he would need help. That might be a reason he's saying it on the forum.
