Below is a comment that was made in the thread, "
Who is LS of Lake Olympus?"
It is in response to the the justification for killing a former member of the village, Lake Olympus.

Without it you have a village of hermits
The statement quoted above is made in full agreement that by simply operating on an economic is fair enough an operation that it should be suited to supplant grief and idleness with cohesion and industry.
However this is not the case, as an economic system alone cannot achieve this for the community. It needs to be paired with leadership and understanding that spans the entire community.
What does not occur frequently enough, something that Melsonia has already done, is the explicit statement of what is expected of every member of that society. All over their website you can see what they are completely about. Every member joins knowing exactly what they must do, and have agreed to that purpose with complete trust and fealty to it.
Very few groups in HnH have made it a priority to create an honest and inert social contract that every member, if not a majority at the time of its creation, agrees to. Not doing so has caused an immense amount of grief in the past. This killing of LorD is only one example of what a proper social contract could prevent.
I suggest that all you leaders out there take it upon yourselves to discuss with your group members what you all truly stand for, put it in writing and have it be something that everyone can refer to should disagreements arise.
This is a plea to the incumbent leaders of the many groups in the Hearthlands, that you lead your party in some soul-searching that goes beyond economic policy, but rather digs into the heart of what matters and discuss the relation and obligations you have to one another. I'll reiterate, that you need put it in writing and leave it in public view so that you may source it.
It is by and large the greatest way to keep grief out of the community, not through the killing of former members as we saw happened in Lake Olympus.
Here is a link the the Melsonia Charter. It is an example of what I mean by put your obligations to each other it in writing: http://www.melsonia.com/charter.html
