Welcome to the newly restored Library of Congress. Here you may discover a comprehensive range of information regarding the Hearthlands. Entries here are made from official and documented sources. Clicking on the "O" next to the entry allows you to view the source.

You are able to make contributions to the library by posting the link of any thread that might be considered significant. Discussion may ensue regarding the significance of the information. If the information is significant, a new entry may be added. Most of all, be detailed in your own historical accounts.

Likelyhood of an Entry
Significant topics tend to be the following: The founding of a village, the razing of a village, the establishing of a group of players, the merging of a group of players, the disbanding of a group of players, opening a business, closing a business, merging a business, documented treaties/oaths, the breaking of documented treaties/oaths, impressive heists, death of a well known leader, birth of a well regarded leader (added postmortem), death of a notorious bandit, opening of a landmark, political maps, etc.

Insignificant topics tend to be the following: Reaching a certain number of character stats, losing a boat, becoming knocked out, poorly documented grievances, etc.

As an additional use of the Library that is a result of the restoration, you are free to put in requests for sources on topics you would like to learn more about, or see documented in greater detail. Much older information requires greater effort towards investigation, and are not easily discovered through search phrases alone, but through cross-analysis of source after source.

I am particularly interested in fulfulling requests for fleshing out information that corresponds with what are typically seen as significant events. Sometimes the introduction of new crafts are equally interesting for the way they drastically change the landscape. Other times I tend to find particular players as key figures in the way that their actions direct much of the commotion at the time, and I tend to be willing to take a closer look at them. Simply request and it will be considered.

Example Topics for Request
I would like to learn more about a group.
I would like to learn more about a Hearthling.
I would like to learn more about a feature
I would like to learn more about a community project
I would like to know what happens in Hel.
Etc.

2013-10-19

This undertaking of the Library of Congress Restoration has involved the attempt at a complete catalog of events, from the earliest glimpsed days of the Hearthlands, up to the present! The cataloging, has been and continues to be, a delightful task, that has rewarded me with many amusing insights. I hope that in your time perusing the Library, that you find similar delight in the events of priceless stories in development and deviance, politics and passions, a dynamic chronicle that was written by thousands of you, over an amazing course of five years, and counting!

Many Thanks,
-Vaku

February, 2008 - April 2009
O The Hearthlands exist, and during this period, are characterized by mystery. It is supposed that three worlds had existed during this period. A new world is made to surpass them all and is remembered to this day as the First World. Creation is instantaneous, the world is lush, and there is whimsy at every turn. The primordial beings, Jorb and Loftar frequent their creation, the Hearthlands, and in it, do later enable life, life that is channeled from the same plane as Jorb and Loftar. Disaster shatters the foundations of the young world. Much is lost. What is known, is inferred, from those that were—those that remember, the Drei Neun Drei. Jorb and Loftar commune with the spirits that inhabited the shared firmament, and ensure for them, a structured world, in which they may exist and operate their will. The FORUM, as it is known today, is restored. The Hearthlands, a pale impression of this present day, is restored.

April 4th, 2009
O The written word characterizes the tone of the world that Jorb and Loftar create.

Ähem, and it seems, he is not the only one collecting things/thinking of 'usefull' threads: viewtopic.php?f=34&t=31595

EDIT: Nice thread anyway, I've played since world 4 now and don't regularly check the forums, so a nice index is nice for people like me.

Will you actually be able to upkeep the thread and maintain OP? I wonder if this will actually work; most people quit mid- or early- world due to any reason.

Well, that's a valid concern. I'll go for as long as I can, as I see no reason to not get the ball rolling. If for some reason I should disappear off the face of the earth, some mod like burgingham could take over if you guys truly dig this format.

(
burgingham wrote:Well I have been asked before to write a history of HnH and maybe I already made some posts with brief overwies, I cannot remember.

One day I will get around to writing up something that goes a little more into details. I am just too lazy to read through all the old forum threads etc.
)

But seeing as I would not like to instill that burden onto any one person, not even myself, I won't take to quitting the forums lightly, even if I do take a break from the game.

I ask that to lighten the load, that if you see something, or write something that should become a part of W7's history, go ahead and post it here with a link, and the best will be done to add it to the timeline at the top.

I hope this encourages people to really go in depth with their political charades, and take good accounts for their successes and defeats. So all you major factions who are laying low, make a thread, create an identity and become a part of W7's server history. All you bandits, boast your triumphs and if you should fall, maybe your exploits will be honored in the timeline.

This seems like a good idea, especially when it all gets locked. People viewing the archive can then use this thread to navigate though major events with ease. Good luck with the thread.

Cool. I'd recommend you to contact town leaders and well known people as well, in order to get some more information.
