My (Almost) Lucky Break

Postby btaylor » Sat Jun 15, 2013 12:35 pm

So there I was, minding my own business, exploring the wilderness and collecting mushrooms when I came across a small little village by the name of Sunrise Trading Company. "Cool" I thought, as I nonchalantly walked up to their borders. I seen they had a palisade up and I decided to take a closer look. Lo and behold, what every aspiring thief prays for, an open gate with the key alt just sitting there.

I park myself behind the alt and wait a few minutes. It appears they haven't noticed my presence, which gave me some time to plan my next course of action, which was to punch the alt in the face and take his keys. But wait! I have Rage but I don't have Theft, and I am only 100 lp shy of being able to purchase it! Oh cruel irony... "Alright, no big deal" I say to myself. I have a curio studying at the moment which will finish in less than 30 minutes. I can chill until then.

About 12 minutes into my wait two people hearth into the scene, loot in hand. Both wearing bear capes and one wielding a sword. A real sh*t bricks situation. I play it cool and stay where I am, perfectly hidden behind the key alt and the palisade post.

Image

They're running from crate to crate and generally going about their own business. Are these guys really that blind? I take my chances and stay a bit longer, hoping they leave again so I can get another chance with their key alt. However, things take a turn for the worse when their key alt springs to life and shuts the gate, cutting off any means of escape. The guy with the sword quickly runs toward me and I have to make a quick-second decision, fight or flight? Adrenaline shoots through my body as I quickly hit A > E > H...

Safe.

Sunrise Trading Company, you may have won this round, but don't think for a second that I won't be back to try again. :) Leaving your gates open is an invitation for all manner of bad people and curious individuals. Until next time...

So you leave us because we are "raiders" and you don't want to raid so you raid as a hermit? Huh?

Nah I only help out the newbies. These guys are clearly criminals up to no good. Nobody has THAT much loot legitimately. ;)

To be honest I only left, not because of the raiding, but the fact that my poor character was killed. I wanted to live peacefully so I left to hermit. However, since then I've been harassed by Russians so I've had to adapt. Like it or not this is an age of strife and only the strong will survive. I should meet back up with you guys. :)
