How do I handle a threat

Postby witeout187 » Tue Aug 06, 2013 4:19 pm

I am new here and yesterday all of the fence just outside of my claimed area was destroyed and a dead body was left at my entrance. A stone was left reading "nobody wants you here, you have 3 days to get lost before we evict you" what now?

Find a private claim that probably belongs to those persons and they are expanding it now place your own private claim near it and put as much lp as possible just to mess with them a little. Oh and then better get out of there and find someone who will let you join a village.

I say you ignore him and stay.
Early world exploit: Put your hearthfire inside a cave, then hold shift to position a claim right in front of a cave. After 8 hours the claim will be unbreakable. Since your hearthfire is inside the cave, you can still get back inside, and leave, but nobody will be able to enter, effectively making you unraidable for the first 3-7 days. Enjoy

Grind combat skills for 3 days, trade for a sword, meet them in honorable combat and dishonor them.

Realistically though, consider the threat; a body and a runestone are pretty meaningless on their own as any newbie can find a body then make a runestone and write a threat on it. Spend the next three days pushing for a claim and walls and leave no scents. Create alt characters to put valuable goods on and consume everything else (food and curios). If they go through with their threat then they'll have to bash your walls and in exchange they'll earn nothing. What often happens in these cases is that they get cold feet and just leave you alone when they see they can't just roll you over.

This is, of course, a lot of work. I don't know how much time and experience you have so this may be an unobtainable goal for now. If you cannot defend yourself then just consume everything that you can, take some tools, and move away.

If you are able to destroy your own hearth fire then you shouldn't create new character otherwise if you don't have any really high stats i don't see any problem.

I don't have the strength to destroy one yet. I guess that means I should start over, whats the best way to do this to keep some of my stuff and my points
