Trading is done by both parties having a village idol and you must have the ability to break a hearthfire.
Procedure:
1. Break the hearthfire of a new alt. Equip the alt with inventory increasing items up to the amount of stuff you will be trading.
2. Add my Hearth Secret, or tell me yours, so I can add yours.
3. Invite me to your party, or have me invite you to my party. Make sure you are standing outside and not in a house or cave or underground.
4. I will send an oath request to you. You must accept this oath to join my village.
5. Gather the stuff you want to trade onto the alt. You can either put everything into your inventory, carry a storage container with items, carry a liftable, or carry a boat with storage containers/liftables
6. Use the Adventure > Fast Travel > Fast Travel to Village Idol to teleport to me.
7. We conduct the trade
8. You will then have your Lawspeaker party your trade alt and send an oath request to it.
9. You will then port back to your village.
Explanation:
Current mechanics state that your hearthling can travel to its hearthfire regardless of travel weariness. So, technically, it can travel to its hearthfire from anywhere in the world. However, if the hearthfire is destroyed, and the hearthling is part of a village, the village idol acts as a hearthfire and the character can travel to the village idol from anywhere in the world. That is why you send an alt that has a destroyed hearthfire.
The reason why you oath your own trade alt back is because if the trade alt is exiled or the trade alt leaves the village, the village will lose authority, and no one wants that. However, if the character is oathed by another village and joins that one, no one loses authority.
NOTE: Make sure you have permissions at the shop before doing anything, else people can take the scents and summon you because you wont have a hearthfire.
