see it that way: ramones offers to protect the identity of bidders

btw. i'm not bidding ...

I didn't say ramones is confirmed liar or scammer, just saying that private bidding could work in very tricky ways, for example, whole auction could be fake for obvious purpose of bragging with item he can't actually sell, or to raise price even further, saying bidders that someone made a bigger bid.

Just saying, nothing more.

That's where I smell trickery.

What kind of trickery do you smell? I received up to about ... 8-10 bids, out of few 2-3 were realistic. Why would I need to do any tricks? Why wouldn't I sell the item I posted screenshot off? :?

But perhaps its the second helmet with the same quality.

You know nothing :) What was sold or wasn't isn't even the case of discussion. The fact is, that I have a dhelm and the highest bidder will receive it in about 5 hours when it ends.

Why on earth would I even want to scam anyone? I never did, never am or will do it to anyone, because everyone knows what my point of view towards trade is. So please, no further discussion needed, the buyer can confirm his purchase (if he wants too) in about 5 hours as I've said. ;)

And yes, borka made valid point. If someone doesn't trust me, feel free to make an offer I can't refuse or you know it will be highest. Then we can trade :)

As if those were hard to make. And this is the first we are selling. I gave one to a friend already that is all that got out so far.

Of all the issues Ive ever had with Ramo him being dishonorable has not been one of them. He could just as easily sell them privately with his contacts. If you dont trust his methods dont participate.

That is really nice of you to defend him, but as I pointed out, this is only my warning to others, I am not going to buy it, but I feel obligated to warn others how private bidding could work. If ramones is doing everything legitly then he has nothing to worry about, if not - well, maybe I will save some people a few pearls on that. Is it bad?
I've seen a few traders (not ramones, though) cheating with private bidding trying to force people to raise their bid based on seller's request.

How can you force raise the price through private bidding? People will only bid the amount that they feel it is worth for them. I don't discuss offers with bidders, I just write them down till the bidding is over, then announce the win to the winner and thats it.

The only reason I didn't do public bids is because I don't want the dhelm in which some effort was put into go for too cheap, thats all.

Uhm, what?
If you don't want to sell it cheap you can make fixed price.
The only purpose of any auction is to get much more profit by making the buyers compete for it.
Am I wrong?

You are not wrong, you are right :) Thats the part where I said that I want it to go for the right price and let the buyer decide what he feels its worth for him. If people would bid 5 pearls top, it would just go for 5 pearls and make me sad.

As for fixed price, its highest DH sold so far in HnH this world in public, so I didn't want to price it up myself, that was 2nd reason to do the bidding.

And that's another problem of private bidding. You can just make a fake bidding (if you are concerned about proofbase) from alt account and you will be sure you will only sell it for price you like. There won't be any "5 pearls" since you are the only one, who decides if you gonna sell it or not.

As usual, I'm not saying you did or gonna do it, just pointing out that it's possible.

Everything is possible, I totally agree. But those who know me and have participated in my previous biddings that I have made, which were quite few for quite nice items, know that I'm not like that. And those people already put a bid on the dhelm. I'll have more public bids in the future, so everyone can grab their share for cheap :)

I'm glad we solved the trust part on the bid process, now lets proceed, 4,5 hours left.
