Recruiting for new town-re-opened with amendments- CLOSED

Postby Eemerald » Fri Sep 20, 2013 5:15 pm

So it's been suggested by a few people in my town to build a town that's safe for new players to be able to learn the game in a safe environment where they won't be instantly killed by someone.

So what we offer is NOT a ready made town.
The point is that new players get to build, and try out all aspects of the game with support from our town (Emerald City) and it's villagers. you will be added to a walled town with idol where you will be expected to build up the different aspects of the town together. We will advise on how we do things, and what options there are for how you may want the town to work. Having Skype is pretty essential for communication purposes.

What we offer is:

A walled area
An idol
Advice and guidance on the game, how to play, how to develop
support with things which are difficult to get in this game at this stage.
An opportunity to try all aspects of the game in a safe environment

The rules:

Respect others in the town and their development
Work together on village projects
NO SCENTS to be left outside or inside the town- If you do leave scents and someone tracks u and kills you, it's your own fault. if it places the villagers in the town in danger, you will be exiled instantly from the town.

You are in a town working for yourself and those within the town to develop your character, it's not a 'you will be handed everything you need while you do nothing' deal.

All those interested in this opportunity, please just apply here with the following:

Name
Age
Location
How long you've played Haven
Why you want to join
Describe your game play
How much can you play
Do you have Skype?

Any other questions feel free to ask:)

Amended: So, it seems that trying to set up a town of new players and allow it to function with me or someone leading it, wasn't a great idea. Initially I had wanted to provide the space for new players to use and not have that worry about walling, without me dictating how things should run or running relationships within the town etc etc. This is for 2 reasons: firstly to allow new players to find their feet, and learn from mistakes made, and secondly, cause I don't have the time to do it for them as well as my main town.

In the next week or so i'm going to be removing inactive claims from the village, and recruit other new players to join those who are still playing. If you are a newish player, want a town that's going to run mostly as a community and not for individual results, have some basic working knowledge of the game, preferably use enders so u're not dying to boars/bears every other day, with a set leadership, then message me.

The more info provided the better for me to decide, will probably only take 4-5 new players.

Thanks

I dont recommend to new players to go in any more experienced villages in first month-two of playing.
It kills all the magic of discovering. Better play alone or with friends, started same time as you. Make mistakes and die foolishly. Its fun :)
Actually its one of the best things in HnH.
With month-two experiense, when all basic things are known and you feel like hit a wall - next step - new village. Like this.

that's the point of this town. it's not anyone joining the main Emerald City, since as you said, you can't contribute as much and most new players end up leaving. I myself, wouldn't recommend a totally new player joining an established town. I've seen how new players behave when stuck in a large developed town, they get bored and feel overwhelmed.

The point of the newb town is to have the protection of a wall, but for the inside to be built up by the new players. so it would be the same as them experiencing haven life, but within a safe space.

Also this offer isn't necessarily for totally new players, those who've played a few months, or just need support , or been raided a million times and getting fed up of restarting each time etc.

YOU WILL need to build your own stuff, and you will need to tame your own animals, and grow your own trees, and do your own silk, and cook and hunt for yourself, etc etc. I am not offering a ready made town, otherwise it is pointless.

Yep. Happened to me when I recruited some IRL friends into my towns. They just had nothing to do.
It's the charm of H&H, you HAVE to have your heart broken, die lots of times and realize you've been doing it wrong all along.
Hand a pro base to a noob? Wat. No progression, so he doesn't even feel like he has a pro base.
Anyway, great idea, Emerald!
Oh yeah, I think PvP is a big aspect on noobs too. Some of them try it then get summoned, it's a way of learning. No scent is safer, but..

Yeah, I remember when I joined a large town I felt out of place as a noob, even though I knew basics I hadn't tried a lot of things in the game. It's one of the reasons I set up Emerald City...it wasn't meant to turn into a town that recruits people, it was my little hermit character, trying to learn how to establish a town and experience that part of the game as it was new for me- Hence the name...it was meant as a joke:P

Anyhow, thanks nooby:)

I did this from World 4 on and called em Seed Towns. great way to give people a "trial" membership to your "real" town and to weed out fucktards, i stopped when charter stones were removed though. :(

TBH i'm not currently looking for new villager to Em city, I've recently recruited 3 new people, and theyre great. This idea was more from new players approaching villlagers about joining, and our concern that they wouldn't last in the town we currently have, so this is our solution to it.

Safe, walled, connected to EC, with support and ability to play how you wish but keeping to the basic rules, which I don't feel are too difficult to keep to, unless you just want to raid..in which case this woudnt work for you.
