New player looking for a village

Postby phoenixmastm » Wed Sep 25, 2013 7:21 pm

Hey all, I'm a newb player looking for a village to start with, doesn't have to be a big one either. I'm primarily in this game to build and craft things, I have no real interest in PVP beyond ranged combat and I despise griefers with a passion. Already lost about 4 days worth of materials, leather, and other stuff to one.

I'm very active, playing at least two to three hours a day. My skills are a bit on the low side, but I'm always working on improving them.

Timezone - CST, work night shifts so I'm on usually around mindnight - 3am and 11am - 2pm.
Age - 26
Languages - English
Skype - Yes
other voice chat programs - Raidcall, Ventrilo, Teamspeak

FYI, working on getting Farming and Pottery next, been following the newb guides almost religiously. Only thing I didn't do was increase exploring to 10, it's at 8 now.

Is there a reason why you choose not to use Skype? Just curious as we use it and for our village and as far as I know mine is not the only one that is like this, it is a requirement.

In my opinion Skype has lesser soundquality than a lot of other similar programs. Also it automatically links to your Facebook.

it also takes up way too much cpu and bandwidth than it should do

it's also a microsoft product so all your conversations are being recorded and stored lol

Yup, because you hear stories about how the government uses logs like that all the time to apprehend suspected terrorist...

^ all those are pretty good reasons why I don't use Skype. I'm also not a big fan of how it never saves how I have my mic setup. But anyway, back on topic, any villages got room for a newb?

I think you'll find that no developed group will accept you if you don't use skype.
As much as I dislike the application itself...

It's slightly better than irc, in terms of it being global, user friendly, and account based

You'll find that this game's community pretty much runs through skype.
