Keep in mind that this game's play base is so tiny that even in a village as large as ours you can go hours without running into anyone else. I was in the village for almost an in-game day before I met someone.

an IN-game day is not that long. i do not know where that place is but in my neck of the woods it is hard for someone in our alliance to go out without running into someone ... but thankfully almost everyone out here is in the alliance for the moment.
