Looking for a village to make real progress with

Postby Yansy » Sun Jun 30, 2013 6:19 am

Hello!
So as I'm sure you've gathered, I'm looking to join a village. I'm a somewhat experienced player and I'm always trying to improve my play and understanding of the game, I'm looking for these same traits in the village I wish to join. To be frank, I'm just looking to progress as far as I can with a village that understands that desire. Organisation and clear leadership are things I think any village needs to succeed; I'd rather not join a village where we have to struggle to get any measure of village projects off the ground let alone complete.

The roles I currently have characters for are:
Forager
Farming / Silk
Combat

That said; I'm perfectly fine playing any role and although starting a new character will put me rather behind I'll work hard to overcome that deficit.

My time zone:
UTC +1 / GMT (Daylight saving time is the reason for the +1)

Although, should everyone be active at another time I'm perfectly capable of altering my sleeping schedule to accommodate time zone differences, since I'm currently Not in Employment Education or Training (NEET as I'll commonly refer to it as). I will of course have a very large amount of time to spend playing video games such as HnH due to this.

I understand that my fresh forum account will dissuade many people, I can only ask that you look past that and at least converse with me to form an opinion before dismissing me. I'd ask that you pm me if you're interested in asking more questions or talking about your village.

I have to admit your request is very professional but I am curious why you suddenly want to join a village? If you could give us more information on what you have been doing and why you decided the change then I'll consider it more.

I understand the post count but listing past experiences and reference that I am able to look up myself and see will help.

I can vouch for Yansy as a stand up guy. He's active, does good work. Just sad things didn't work out before since our time zones are so far apart.

Sure, as Val said I was with her and Harry initially we were doing pretty well for ourselves but our villagers just seemed to fall off the grid and I ended up leaving to look for another more active village.

So I joined up with another group, they were low tech but claimed to be a mix of experienced players and fresh players so I stuck around with them for some days just to watch how they'd progress and they turned out to be terribly unorganised and had trouble starting a village project let alone finishing it in a timely manner. Ultimately I didn't want to sit in a low tech village squandering my time because people arn't capable.

What do you consider low tech and that progress I can agree on as a reason to leave.

They had no nodes, q10 kilns and what not. Their farm was atrociously laid out and small enough that 2 hives covered it all with around 11~ players, they managed to secure a cave and had some metal going but it was all low q (and all copper I believe) due to no tree farm going and q10~ smelters. When I joined them I figured I'd wait with them for a while and see how they progress without my interference but the didn't seem to make any; I contemplated staying on with them and helping them out but I simply don't want to have to baby a bunch of fresh players. I won't claim to be an expert but it was the kind of settlement I'd expect from a group of fresh players and not the mixed experience bunch they claimed to be.

Yea, they should have had higher quality kilns and stuff, but for metal quality it mainly just depends on how lucky you are to find good quality metal.

True, metal nodes do accelerate the q I can't argue that. But it's not hard to churn out q20~ metal at least. They also did have a q30~ clay node right across from them on the lake they settled too. To be honest though, tech issues can be overlooked, I knew they were low tech and that was fine. The issue came with organisation and game knowledge, if they truly are the mixed experienced group they claim to be then I fear the veterans aren't guiding the fresh players as well as they could be.

I'm 19 currently, I suppose I should have put that in the op. Just slipped my mind.
