Experienced newbie looking for a town. (edited for info)

I've played a few days now, and I feel I'm getting the hang of the game. Do I enjoy playing alone? Somewhat. I don't exactly want to be alone in the world, to rely on my meager skills should a troll come along looking for fresh meat. I've managed to make myself at least entry level self-sufficient, but would like to become a little more specialized, and work with others for our mutual benefit. I have a couple chat programs I can communicate through (Groupme and Wechat) and am willing to get another one (preferably an app, as my phone works better than my comp presently) to facilitate communications. I appreciate your consideration, and wish to get to know prospective allies before trusting them completely. I've been burned before in other games.
