Sorta new player looking for a village

Postby Neizi » Thu May 08, 2014 5:09 am

and maybe a mentor. ive played for a few hours and ive got the general just of whats going on, and ive managed to gain some experience and skills, but... i havent ran into much. mostly trees and rocks and these plants i cant seem to interact with. in total ive seen 4 toads, 2 rabbits, 1 deer, 1 boar and way too many anthills. no players, unless you count those headless skeletons laying around and a few seemlingly abandoned player homes and what apears to be people sleeping. is there any village that'll take me in? fast, before that boar finds out where i live. :?

World is really, REALLY huge. Chances are not that big that another player is online at the same time and place

It is quite late in this world. Many are bored or just refreshing curios inside their walls. When world reset comes there will be once again a land rush. I suggest you learn the game to have chances at that. While in this world some people are uninterested in killing fresh newbies because it offers no challange (be wary though, people may do that just for lulz). You can scavenge abandoned places (if they are claimed you should put your Hearthfire inside house protected by palisade so that first guy with ranging doesn't kill you.

every land i find is "claimed" with absolutely no one around and a buncha items just going to waste. tbh it kinda makes me mad that theres so much stuff there and the people possibly dont even play anymore. and i know its a huge world but why would i see so many signs of people and no people? i haven't even seen one chicken, cow, or sheep. it was a shock when i ran into a pack of rats when i was out looking for apples. im at the point where im at in impasse at learning points because i've already discovered everything avalible to me w/o just leaveing my camp and most of my belongings behind. i want to join some other plays cause that way i'd have people around and i could ask someone what to do if i where stuck. its not exactly something i can look up seeing how the game works and all.

nobody wants to recruit a whiny kid, especially a "i-know-all" after a few hours of playing.

I can't even begin to tell you how many people have come to my cities and camps and declared them inactive and free for the looting because I was out hunting / asleep / indoors dealing with cheese or sausage making. If it really makes you angry that other people have things, then raid their camps and kill them for it. Otherwise make it yourself.

sometimes you need to spawn a char a few times to end up in a decent location with more around you to interact with. the likely chances of you spawning and finding people is slim, since most will have walls, and be inside them working on their own game or in their own towns. I rarely see people when I forage, normally just my own villagers, unless someone specifically contacts me about something or tells me to meet someplace. Most interaction happens over Skype really within chat groups, and IRC I believe is relatively active though ive never used it.

explore and learn what you're doing, and build something, produce things, etc before expecting people to take you on. even starter towns want at least someone willing to learn and put the effort in, cause most of the effort happens when you start out

good luck

I love these threads. Reminds me why I love this game, and even though it's prone to trolling, this community.
