sort of a hermit gathering

Postby Blueberry » Thu Aug 21, 2014 9:46 pm

i live in a relatively deserted area, not many claims dotting the place and I suspect a majority of them are abandoned. i've only seen two people, one seems friendly enough, one's character died, and the other ignored me. i'm challenging myself by doing zero looting, even from abandoned claims, and doing everything on my own, hench the hermit part, but...its a bit lonely. i'm looking for fellow hermits who'd like to live near me. we could trade goods and services and perhaps share hard to find things, like if one us is lucky enough to grab an unclaimed cave. also, since i'm a hermit i don't need huge amounts of food so any cow or sheep herds i find can be shared.

SO. if anyone's interested, just send me a pm.

i forgot to describe the area! its a fairly nice place with its own pros and cons. its in pine forest, but with large areas of greenland and clay fields a short boat ride away. i live just across a river from a mountain. plenty of connecting rivers and two lakes. there's not much in the way of hearthland or moor, but enormous tracts of greenland make up for it. and i don't know if its just me, but it seems there are A LOT of deer in the area.

I'd like to move into a village with some sensible, fairly social people.

Hermits living nearby is a far shot though.

What's with the elaborate post? Are you roleplaying?

It's a nice idea, it helps when hermiting to have friendly neighbours for trade, socializing and a bit of help, either way, when building up bases. You can do the same thing with existing towns and villages if you are respectful of their area's and make attempts to be friendly, but other hermits are a much safer option and I've seen others suggest similar before.

Good luck!

If I was starting out I'd have been interested. :)

A friend and I used to run a hermitage network. It worked very well until it didn't. Still trying to make that happen again.

With dedicated hermits (i.e. people who won't quit) and proper combat chars to defend the region I think it's a really good idea.

I would like to join. A problem is that I'm already settled with my own Timber House and honestly don't feel like moving. North of me is kinda like what you described. Is there a water near above? There is some water below where I live me it's like kinda like a swampy area but it isn't... I don't really know how to explain. And it's about a 30min walk from top of the island to bottom. My house is right below a kiln I made accidentally and next to the kiln is a runestone saying that "You can use this kiln, don't steal from others or us and we come in peace!"
