Venator is looking for partners

Postby venatorvenator » Tue Nov 25, 2014 8:27 pm

Several months ago I started a project.

I spent my first months in this game dying and starting again from scratch because people weren't helpful at all. For months my most valuable possessions were four bear teeth and a pickaxe.

Because of that, and seeing how new players are often target of murder or forum mockery, my idea was to find and help noobs to start up neatly and avoid making deadly mistakes. What I did was load an alt with tools and hq curios and port him randomly over the world, helping whatever fresh players I found while exploring, and tutoring them for a few weeks before leaving their region.

That was a cool project and it worked very well, and I was wondering if anyone else finds this interesting and wants to do the same. If you do, I'd like to be in contact with you.

It's light work and very easy to do, and at times it /is/ rather adventurous. Your alt will occasionally stumble on random raiding parties and will also scout the player's region for threats, so it's definitely not boring. It also involves a big deal of exploration so if you're into that you'll also be into this. Some of these players turn out to be really nice to talk to.

If that's something that fits your way of playing or if you think this might be fun for you, do PM me and I'll give you more details about this and other stuff involved. If you like the idea of casually exploring the world and meeting new people, or if you think there's more to this game than grinding quality, this could be a good thing to try.

Very welcome your initiative. But ... how about building any kind of help center and provide your (alt) heartsecret here in forum for beginners to start together on a solid foundation?

That was done a few times before and always ended up in slaughter. Many new players don't even read the forum so it wouldn't be very efficient to begin with. For me personally it's much more fun to meet these people in their home plots and help them develop in their own way. It's also much safer for them that way.

Thanks to everyone who pmed me, it's encouraging to see there are people with similar ideas.

Haha a nice thing about your post is that you actually live on the edge of the map prowny:)

And both, Avulsio. This project costs me less than 15 minutes a day, both duties aren't mutually exclusive.
