Force name change for any reason is ''moderation'' in my books. But I will amend previous statement to as follows:
If I run this game I think I will not open Pandora's box of perform forced name change for any reason except legal obligation.
@loftar (and jorb): "Player Population" I think, was just a snarky view of what happens every world. Some people are here for that early world rush of build up and fight some fights over resources, but then someone wins, people get bored of the grind, etc etc, and the population slowly drops till it levels out. I get the creator side of it, too, as nobody wants to feel like they're being criticized. Every MMO goes through this, though. Granted, WoW has a lot more fanbois, they don't have quite a severe flux of players, at least in terms of percentages. However, with their longer expansion development time line, it still exists, just more spread out. Some MMOs have tried to level it out a bit more by having less aggressive expansions every six months, but they still deal with it. Can we call this an overreaction, please?
@ysh: I don't know... that's a hard call there, and opinions on that vary widely across the Internet. I think for a village or player names, it should be hands off, but realms cover a lot of people, and it's harder to push them out of the way once they come charging in. I mean, it's open world PvP, so if you don't like a village or player, you can easily get rid of them. Realms, given the size of the player base around them, might be a bit harder to kill by players.
