They should be walking speed max on land I think. Could they can give a charge that is faster? I mean it be nice, one runs at you for a moment then if you dont die you can get away.

Agreed, you need a few moves before it even becomes a viable option. Ants are too strong in my opinion as are bats and these two enemies should be the early game creatures that we're getting our first few moves from.

It's not a very good system when it is easier to kill a fox/badger/boar/deer to get your first moves than it is an ant or bat.

Bats are easy when you have armor.

That's probably the thing you're missing. Armor is absolutely essential in the current combat system. Fighting without armor is like swimming without drinking to full stamina beforehand; of course it's going to result in disaster if you don't prepare.

I'm not wasting my leather on armor lol I need to make a minehole because they fucked us with coal, also backpacks and palisades and any of the other shit you need before armor.

At least get tusk helmet and boots, it's just 5 leather and makes a world of difference.

Palisade, yes. Leather backpacks are optional (I still haven't made mine), and armor is WAY higher priority than it used to be. Once you have armor you can kill bats, which gives you easy hides, which in turn becomes leather, in addition to other hunting gains. Mineholes are not necessary, you can just use a tar kiln. Yes, you won't be able to make metal as fast or as high quality this early as you used to be. That's entirely intentional.

(Plus, Leather Pants are only 4 leather and already provide decent armor.)

To me it just sounds like you just dislike that your previous strategies no longer work due to balance changes.

And bat wing, then grind bats for all the leather you need.

I'm with everyone else, idc if those strategies are fixed but hunting is still a pain in the ass when animals run all over the place and they didn't fix that.

And to add to that, not focusing on these things now puts you behind. Plain and simple. You might not be concerned about that but I am and so are other people depending on how they play the game.

how about instead of running and finishing animal they run SUPER fast and you have to track them by trails you approach blood and can use it like scents to follow the animal and when you find it its 100% dead, if you dont then someone will get lucky. Because right now killing a fox is only possible on biomes you can actually catch up to him, if he manages to run then he will keep on running forever -_-

Because you need to actually kill it (not let it bleed out) to get the combat discovery.

And FYI: what you describe is exactly how it was last world - and it wasn't fun.

Just subbed for three months and bought my verification. And now I have a pack of death machines that I can only escape if I can sprint or have a knarr. I don't care much for this update, and this update has already killed me by getting aggrod by walruses I didn't even see. I really regret buying those now lol
