I just implemented some server performance updates that I wanted to try out. I doubt there will be much visible effect from them, except perhaps a few fewer lagspikes here or there.

Sorry to disappoint, but main reason for the lack of patch last week was because we started a project which unfortunately turned out to not work at a fairly late stage. Noone is more disappointed than I was.

Rather, I had the apparently poor judgment to install a sizable package on the server. Of course the fsync calls by dpkg stalled the entire system, because why wouldn't they. I doth sayeth, there is something with I/O on Linux that seems less than optimal from time to time. The performance updates themselves actually seem to be working even above expectations so far.

There's nothing game mechanical about it that can be discussed; the reason for the failure was entirely technical. The major part of the project was a fairly internal upgrade to some core systems. One of the visible consequences it would have had would have been to allow barter stands to accept any kind of item.

O, so you were working on objects interacting with objects again.
but since everything is an object you would have to go thought everything and list it to being accepted not...else someone would figure out a way to put a house inside a barter stand

however you're working on it. I see it as being a rather large system overhaul.
But I have no real knowledge about that stuff~ anyhow.
Keep up the good work man, you've guys have been great for the last year.
Thanks for making my dream game. ;)
