Also how did you guys find out about this bug if one one in the forums report it? Does the game itself reports bugs if so... never mind I thought what's the purpose of the bug section then, but still how would you guys find out about a certain bug if no one reports it?

jorb wrote:Three minutes later I receive a very detailed report about the bug in question from a member (Headshot) of the village (Core) having found the bug and presently using it for raiding. The report was very detailed.

They did get reports, but not public ones on the forums, just that.

As for your other question, I can't really tell but what I could guess with my experience in programming is that they might be able to track a lot of the activity and probably have a way to point out/investigate suspicious behaviors on the server. That is generally pointless without proper reports, though. Thing is, you don't have to discover the bug to report it, sometimes you can be a victim of a bug and point it out so further investigation can be done :)

Neat, damn why I didn't learn prohraming it seems cool, like from sci-fi on minor terms :)

It should preferably not even be seen as a precedent, but rather us just feeling slightly generous this time.

you seriously think one free month is a restitution for the players who love this game and already paying? of course its better than nothing at all, but cant you at least give them some curio to get back on feet, their char sheets should have their status recorded and not like you could gain stats after death. im sorry but i really dont understand what you find this generous. and im sorry im taking this out on you, but cant help it.

There is no death refunds in permadeath game like haven, even if death was partially caused by a bug, this is still alpha (and quite early one). I can understand this position.

I say partially, cause the villagers was not armed and strong enough (or not organized) to defend themselves from raiders. Walls are only one layer of protection, second being your character and it`s combat skills.

What? Guess your armed well enough and your strong enough to defend yourself even if your logged off?

All well and good, but didn't I read in the locked "Core" thread that one person logging in was killed before he even got a chance to fight back? All dem skillz...

All dem organization, thats why i included it. Keep the skype conference and ring the alarm :) Losing one person is ok, all village being massacred is just dumb.

Tonkyhonk wrote:alpha or not is never the point when they advertise this as "eternal alpha" anyways.
im not talking about "killed by a bug", im talking about "victims of bug abuse". there was a precedent.

First month of the game, it`s expected to be filled with various bugs at this stage. I expect it to be more stable later on, even if the title *Eternal Alpha* will remain.

Some time reward was best solution in bad situation. Rolling server back for few players (10? 20?) when hundreds of them are playing all around is not an option, even if backups are available (and i doubt they are).

I`m definitely not defending raiders, but there is no reason to be too harsh with the devs. Nothing they can do better, cause any specific option (like manual character restoration) will create even worse precedent, when they will be forced to restore every and each player, that died to a *gamebreaking bug*.

Don`t be dumb, all log-offed players survived the raid.

the worse precedent already existed.

but im asking him to give them some curios to get back on feet. whats wrong with that?
im sure you could fight back multiple raiders at once inside your house when all your friends are offline.

"Don't be dumb", some character stay in game even if the player is logged out. Guess why...

It's like being partially responsible for stealing, if the victim wouldn't have money i wouldn't steal it right?

The only reason i can imagine why character can be ingame when the player is logged off - recent crime. Have never committed serious crime myself, so no idea. And in such case, well, you get what you was asking for, even if they used a bug to get to you. Don`t crime ¦]

Kinda bad situation, but when i see raiders bugging the wall and opening the door - i`d run to house, logoff and go to skype deciding if we should defend ourselves or wait till raiders gone. Alternatively, if i`m brave and strong - i can rush for the first raider breaking in and block the gate with my body while i try to kill him. There is always an option.

Good job on the punishment , i think. I have to agree with people saying no restitution is a bit of a harsh price to pay. Where does one draw the line in terms of being apologetic on the matter? It's just the first month, they can get back up (with a huge undeserved handicap) in no time! How about if it happens to someone that fended off attackers successfully for a year and then get similarly razed due to bug abuse? Only means to defend from becoming a potential target is to just not be desireable, and that means not playing the game as it's meant to be played. So what's the point in acquiring anything? Tbh I'd rather offenders be banned from anything but have to play in concentration camps rebuilding /re-foraging / re-farming all the things they destroyed. When they've paid off their debt then let them play the game normally again ¦]

Using a modified client, you can initiate combat and use 'chop' in roughly 0.05 seconds, while the player logging in is still loading. Due to flaws in the combat system, this is instantly lethal (as the defender never gets the chance to block the near-instant attack unless they're also cheating). I'm seeing the term 'auto aggro' being tossed around, so it seems like even that part is automated and the attacker doesn't even need to pay attention to kill anybody logging in before they are able to fight back.

In a situation like that, mass logging in would precisely cause the entire village to be massacred. The only way to avoid this is to not log in or to have been logged in before they entered the village.

Summarizing, you cannot defend your village with your character, because you would become criminal and than your going to die because you deserve it right?
And you cannot defend your stuff from being stolen or destroyed because your weak?
