Your previous comment implies that it would be extremely easy to do. Now you're saying that it would be problematic. You can't have it both ways my friend.
Being that this is a videogame made by video game developers, and not just a typical database made by a database admin... Filtering results is not your only weapon. It is possible to implement various ways of comparing things like average stats and compiling a list of top-stat players, which is then sorted further with different rules. You could even have alerts for things like a player gaining more than X stat boosts in one day, over a week, and so forth. These alerts don't necessarily need to punish people either, just bring their actions to the surface to be evaluated by a human. Obviously tweaks would be necessary to filter out the majority of pointless alerts, but don't kid yourself into thinking these things are impossible to spot.
Those are very crude examples, but there are actually some effective ways of finding cheaters in videogames. I'm not saying it's easy, but you have to be willing to think out of the box. If you take no steps to prevent cheating in your community, then players can and
will find a way to cheat. That's an undeniable fact.
