I've been around the block a few times, and the more I hang around decent indie devs, the less I like commercial projects mostly because of this. People are too afraid of pissing off their customers, so they tip toe and blather corporate doubletalk. Don't ever stop telling shitheads where they can stick it, jorb.

Wait a second, what is going wrong?
People have been faithfully playing a game with barely no support for years, spending a LOT of their times on it (several hours a day, sometimes) and now that the only two people behind all this work decide to at least be able to buy some freaking bread with their game (that we have been enjoying for so long) everything is 'going wrong'?
Look, ok, I might agree that we could've been told before. But that's it, they completely deserve support for all they've been doing for years now. Also, being a 'paid product', we'll (supposedly) have increased chances for continued support, new content, constant bug fixing, etc... have you thought about that?
You know, all this fuss about that... sometimes I think it's like the "bad CGI" thing in movies. People don't notice bad CGI because it's bad. They notice it because the movie is bad, and focusing on the bad CGI is a good way to hate it. And when the movie is good, we 'forgive' bad CGI: I think the problem is not about paying, but about how hafen has improved many aspects of the game to prevent botting, LP banking and all other sorts of griefer-fest exploitation for the toxic part of the community.
