From my experience, ants have become sort of unfeasible to hunt as a noob. As it stands, kiting to recover defenses has become quite time-consuming. Fresh characters starting with five defense cards for green and blue each would mitigate some of that, but even then, the player will probably choose to take minor damage to kill ants in a timely manner (before they begin respawning).

How now we have to hunt mammoths? If i was endured 10 seconds... so we need 600 melee and q300 armor (or more?), for die in 30 seconds? and we must be ready to sacrifice themselves, if something goes wrong, for the sake of the carcass of a mammoth? Its not worth it.

Looks like hunting with a melee weapon becomes not the best idea, better to kill ton of bears from boat or maybe later someone found unfair way to kill mammoths (like killing throlls using alt, bow and mine hole).

I will concede that it might be more fun if you got away from fights like that severely maimed, rather than killed, and I will also concede that there is some concern that we're just incentivizing various forms of cheese by removing all viable approaches to fighting animals.

That being said, I still think that...

  • It should be possible to die from wildlife.
  • There should be animals which are too difficult to take on alone.
  • There should be PvE combat with high stakes.

I agree with you but i think it'd be better if you only got serious wounds if you get KOed, and if you get damaged but not koed then all the wounds heal overtime - that way there would be the risk that you get koed and waste time on healing but if you win you only have some Small easily curable wounds. So when mammoth hits me for 500 I wont have to heal myself for 1 month, but if he koes me then i would have to do that.

Same about pvp, the fact that you like always deal some damage to enemies means warriors would have to heal after every fight for a long time.

I got the jist of it how to attack, but I can't seem to be able to get my defense up or I am missing something.
