In truth I love the current combat system, I can use it and not be confused for one, its simple. I does need some cleaning up and tweaking. Some new advanced moves that use some older ideas and add more complexity to PvP. That would be a nice middle ground I think, well past stat-caps for PvP combat.

The cleaning of the current system could make the moves be able to be learned once, and to be able to teach them to other players with a parchment.

For those who are crying that one developed fighter can be brought down by two noobs with some combat skill, I remember that this was exactly one of the main points to level out the old combat back in world 7 when we had 1000+ UA juggernauts that could raise a whole village to the ground and the only thing that could stop them was another such juggernaut. Besides as was said most people never master pvp combat tactics because you can only do that in actual combat, so besides large fighting oriented factions that regularly commit time to training among them selfs no one else has the means.

One other point, in the medieval times fights also usually lasted as long as they do in game. This is a crafting/survival mmo and not wow/lol/counterstrike/whatever fighting should be the last course of action and not the first thing a developed character does when encountering a living soul in the wilds.

EDIT

Two RL hours after a Border Cairn has been challenged, it can be attacked and destroyed. Destroying a Cairn takes a fair amount of time ~30 minutes depending a bit on your strength and whatnot, and only one person at a time can attack the cairn. Border Cairns cannot be destroyed without a challenge. If you destroy a Border Cairn (which is not yours) your realm gains 5000 Authority.


So two kingdoms can come to an agreement to destroy and rebuild each other border cairns without any fighting and thus gain, lets say 50k authority each, daily.

and u killed me 4x ever once when i crashed 2 to altspawns and 1 trapped under a boat if anything i dont see what makes u good abuot these kills tbh id argue we killed all of u a lot more not 2 mention the quote i posted a while ago where mulders clearly telling u guys not 2 fight until u get high ass stats and we all saw how that turned out with u coming back into the game after every1 was stopping playing just like w8 just like now it happens every time dis points it out we point it out its a sick strat u guys pull xd also i dont think death has much to do with it id argue mulders the best fighter u had next 2 ozzy and he died like 20x w7 its hard 2 avoid some deaths especially when u find urself in massive ganks all the time hueue

This combat is retarded because someone with way less stats can just spam defences and be mostly OK. Because of the way defences work and how spamable they are, the only way to kill someone is to gank them with a load of people and continually throw attacks into defences as they keep putting more up. Someone with equal or even less stats can run pretty much forever just cycling his defences because you literally can't get through them fast enough. It's become less of a game of strategically taking down certain defences and throwing different attacks to just punching until defences are down and chop/sting/cleave.

The problem with that is there's really only those two options in combat, you either go with a two defense 5 card deck for quick ganking or 3 defense 6 card deck for trying not to get ganked. The person with the 6 card deck is obviously not going to be able to beat the guy with 5 card deck who also may have better stats so idk how much more you could really expect out of that scenario.
